The consecutive battles against the Ginyu Force can be notably challenging, even at lower settings, as you have to take on each member in succession without the option to heal. However, once you identify the right approach, you can systematically defeat them and achieve victory.
How To Start The Consecutive Battle With The Ginyu Force
If you’re going through the main storyline in Goku’s Character Episode, you might encounter the members of the Ginyu Force in pairs on Planet Namek, making them relatively simple to defeat. On the other hand, if you choose the alternate Side by Side route, you’ll face a consecutive battle against the Ginyu Force, requiring you to tackle all members one after another.
To activate the consecutive battle, opt to face Raditz solo instead of teaming up with Piccolo and reducing Raditz to his last health bar in the Raditz vs. The Turtle School node. This will set off a sequence of events, allowing Vegeta to escape Earth in a Saiyan Pod. Eventually, Vegeta will return and suggest teaming up with Goku and his allies to combat Frieza.
During the alternate story route, Frieza invades Earth, and your first task will be to battle Zarbon and Dodoria. After defeating them, the Ginyu Force will step in, and you will need to confront Guldo, the weakest link in the group.
Once you take down Guldo, Vegeta will recommend to the Ginyu Force that instead of fighting Goku one by one, they should all attack him together. Goku and the Ginyu Force agree to this strategy, leading to Goku facing all five members of the squad at once.
How To Fight The Ginyu Force
The key to winning against the Ginyu Force lies in your ability to create space for charging your Ki, using Sparking Mode, and launching as many Spirit Bombs as possible. Each Ginyu Force member requires a specific approach, and you’ll have to adapt your strategy based on the character you are facing.
Guldo
Guldo is quite straightforward to fight against. You can easily lock onto him with a rush combo and then execute a Kaioken x20 Kamehameha as he is flying toward the ground. Repeat this a few times, and you’ll take him down effortlessly.
However, it’s crucial that you don’t lose any health during your fight with Guldo because you’ll need the maximum amount of health for the tougher battles ahead. If you do take significant damage, it’s best to retry and finish this fight with minimal health loss, as the upcoming opponents will be much tougher.
Try to max out your Ki before delivering the final blow to Guldo so you can immediately switch to Sparking Mode when facing your next opponent.
Recoome
After defeating Guldo, you’ll face Recoome. This encounter is notably tougher as Recoome can use a defensive buff, making it difficult to latch onto him for a regular rush combo.
He will frequently teleport behind you to hit you with a kick. You must be cautious while trying to approach him. If you can surprise him with a rush attack combo while in Sparking Mode, follow up with a Spirit Bomb to deal substantial damage and knock him out before he can recover.
Burter
Compared to Recoome, Burter is far more aggressive and will continuously teleport around you and deliver a flurry of melee attacks. He is also known for counterattacks, requiring careful timing on your part. You can afford to lose some health against Burter, as he’s stronger than the initial Ginyu Force members you’ve encountered.
Be cautious when using raw Spirit Bombs against the Ginyu Force; they can easily dodge such attacks. Also, using a Spirit Bomb takes you out of Sparking Mode, so it’s better to deploy it only after you’ve downed the enemy with a melee combo.
Your strategy for fighting Burter should closely resemble your approach with Recoome: engage Sparking Mode, perform a rush combo to knock him down, and then unleash a Spirit Bomb. If you have spare Skill Points, using the “Give Me Your Energy” Skill up to three times will significantly enhance the damage of your Spirit Bomb.
Make sure you have at least one Skill Point left after casting the “Give Me Your Energy” skill so you can smoothly switch to Sparking Mode if you aren’t already engaged in it before launching the Spirit Bomb.
Jeice
Jeice is quick and relies heavily on long-range Ki attacks. Luckily, his melee strikes are easy to dodge. You’ll want to capitalize on moments when he tries to use his melee attacks, countering with one of your own.
If you find yourself overwhelmed by Jeice’s melee assaults, wait until he teleports and quickly hit the block button; this will allow you to counter and get behind him, taking control of the battle.
Execute a rush attack combo on Jeice to knock him down and hit him with a Kaioken x20 Kamehameha unless you are in Sparking Mode. If you are in Sparking Mode, use the Spirit Bomb instead because it will inflict a considerable amount of damage and can quickly take down Jeice.
Commander Ginyu
Commander Ginyu has a solid defensive stance, but by switching to Sparking Mode and taking the offensive, you can bring his health down quickly with a couple of well-timed Spirit Bombs. Remember, since he is the final opponent, you must be cautious because you may not have much health left.
If you sense you may struggle to overcome Commander Ginyu, a good tactic is to Dragon Dash away to create distance and charge your Ki to switch to Sparking Mode. Once Goku enters Sparking Mode, you can easily overpower Commander Ginyu with a rush combo followed by a Spirit Bomb.
Once you’ve successfully defeated Commander Ginyu, the battle against the Ginyu Force will conclude, allowing you to continue on with Goku’s alternate storyline.
