According to a report from The Information, OpenAI is set to launch “Strawberry,” its AI focused on reasoning, as part of the ChatGPT platform within the next two weeks. This information comes from two individuals who have had the opportunity to trial the model.

OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, has sparked renewed interest in artificial intelligence and attracted significant investments as companies strive to leverage this profitable technology to enhance their offerings.

The Microsoft-supported AI firm announced last week that it boasts over 1 million paying users for its business services, driven largely by the success of its chatbot, which utilizes an advanced large language model.

What sets Strawberry apart from other conversational AI systems is its capability to “think” before delivering a response rather than providing immediate answers, as per the report from The Information.

In July, Reuters reported exclusively that OpenAI was developing a revolutionary new approach to its AI models under the project codename Strawberry.

The Information states that while Strawberry is an extension of ChatGPT, it will function as an independent offering, although details on how it will be made available remain unclear.

The initial iteration of Strawberry will focus solely on processing and generating text, without the ability to handle images, indicating that it is not yet multimodal, the report highlights.

As of now, neither Microsoft nor OpenAI has responded to requests for comments from Reuters.
