PTA Promises Internet Fix by October 20

ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that the issues regarding internet disruptions and slowdowns are expected to be resolved by the end of October.

According to PTA officials, the installation of a web management system (WMS) and necessary upgrades are set to be completed by October 20. They noted that this new system would help prevent cyber-attacks.

The PTA indicated that this upgrade would significantly increase capacity by 8 to 9 terabytes. The installation of the management system commenced in 2019, according to the agency’s representatives.

It’s important to highlight that the repeated internet interruptions have had a significant impact on users, particularly those working from home.

These ongoing outages have led to speculation that the slowdown may be linked to the installation of a firewall, with some suggesting that the government aims to exert more control over digital media.
