BMW Owners Furious Over ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ In-Car Ad

It looks like even your vehicle needs an ad blocker now! Recently, angry BMW owners took to social media to share videos claiming they received a pop-up ad for Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” on their in-car screens.

BMW clarified that the animation does not autoplay. Owners were taken aback by this news, considering BMW is renowned for its luxury vehicles, which can cost from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. The backlash intensified as owners accused the German automaker of using their personal cars as marketing platforms.

BMW owners outraged over in-car ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ ad

A tweet reported, “BREAKING: BMW remotely pushed a Spider-Man movie ad onto customer vehicle dashboards, sparking outrage over unsolicited in-car advertising.” [Link to tweet]

One owner posted on the German automaker’s subreddit, sharing a video of the Spider-Man ad and commenting, “Received this commercial in my car today as part of the Spider-Man – Brand New Day campaign.”

Responses flooded in, with one user saying, “Spending $50,000–$100,000 on a car and still getting ads… guess we need adblockers for cars now?” Another joked, “Wait until the new U2 album OTA update arrives!”

This development came despite BMW’s assurances that their in-car screens would not be used for advertising. According to The New York Post, owners encountered a banner every time the vehicle was started. Clicking on the banner led to a 19-second, full-screen ad featuring dynamic lighting, animation, and music, suggesting this was more than just a minor experiment by the automaker. The ad, which launched on July 27, is scheduled to run until August 10 in BMW models produced after July 2020.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Breaks Box Office Preview Records

Certainly! Here’s the rewritten content in American English, made unique and human-like, with ALBAWABA replaced by Digital Phablet:

Digital Phablet – Spider-Man: Brand New Day Breaks Box Office Records in Previews

When it comes to early box office success this weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is showing no signs of slowing down. Beginning tonight, the Sony/Marvel Studios collaboration is expected to outperform the preview figures of the previous 2021 installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which pulled in $50 million during its preview run. This surge aligns with the reported $80 million in pre-sale tickets for the film starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, part of an overall $225 million production budget.

    Record-Breaking Previews

No Way Home achieved the third-highest previews ever, starting at 3 p.m. on its opening Thursday, trailing only 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which earned $60 million (with a 6 p.m. start), and 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which garnered $57 million during its Thursday night preview. With over $50 million in previews, Brand New Day has secured the third-best preview total in North America, surpassing all previous Sony movies and marking the strongest previews post-COVID.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, premiered today at noon, with a special Prime Video screening for members scheduled for Wednesday night. Some sources suggest that the preview revenue for tonight’s Brand New Day could have exceeded the record set by Avengers: Endgame. Official numbers will be available tomorrow morning.

    Comparison with Previous Blockbusters

No Way Home previews represented about 41% of its opening-day total of $121.96 million, leading to a second-largest opening day in U.S. box office history, with a total reaching $260.1 million, just behind Endgame‘s record of $357.1 million. Similarly, The Force Awakens‘ previews accounted for 48% of its first-day gross of $119.1 million, with a three-day opening of nearly $248 million—once the North American record but now ranked fourth.

While NRG estimates a modest domestic opening of $195 million for Brand New Day, industry insiders and tracking firms like Greenlight Analytics predict much higher numbers, possibly ranging from $260 million to $300 million.

    Premier Reactions and Critical Acclaim

Brand New Day is already boasting the highest audience score among all nine live-action Spider-Man films—an impressive 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critical reviews are equally strong, with a certified fresh rating of 90%, just shy of No Way Home‘s 93%.

In terms of distribution also notable is that this film has achieved its remarkable success without relying on IMAX screens—an approach the Barbie movie adopted three years ago when Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer made significant inroads with IMAX.

    Social Media Buzz

Some entertainment analysts argue that providing detailed preview start times and seasonal context could help refine box office forecasts. Still, the magnitude of this opening is noteworthy—outpacing previous COVID-era record-holder Deadpool’s $38.5 million preview from July two years ago.

    Box Office Outlook

While early indicators suggest a solid start, actual performance may surpass estimates. Industry experts initially projected a low domestic opening of around $195 million, but other data sources are more optimistic, forecasting totals between $260 million and $300 million.

    Additional Highlights

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has earned the highest audience approval among all live-action Spider-Man movies, with a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its critical reception is equally favorable, reflecting strong anticipation and positive reactions from viewers.

In summary, Brand New Day is making history with extraordinary previews, setting new benchmarks, and demonstrating that Spider-Man still has immense box office appeal—without the need for IMAX screens. The coming days will reveal just how high it can climb.

Stan Lee Documentary Encounters Industry Opposition, Director Says

Digital Phablet – Director and comic book enthusiast Jon Bolerjack recently disclosed that his documentary about Stan Lee, which he started filming in 2024 to chronicle how the legendary Marvel icon spent his 90s before passing, has reportedly encountered resistance from industry insiders.

“Stan Lee: The Final Chapter” is scheduled to premiere on streaming platforms today. Alongside capturing Stan Lee’s late-life story in his 90s, Bolerjack previously shared that the film will also shed light on how the industry exploited the American comic book creator and editor, including individuals within his inner circle.

Among those accused are two former managers of Lee, who in 2019 faced charges of fraud, theft, and unlawful deprivation of liberty.

The film’s release was made possible by the $300,000 raised through Bolerjack’s Kickstarter crowdfunding effort, promising viewers an extensive behind-the-scenes look at Stan Lee’s turbulent final years and revealing how mistreatment and conflicts threatened his life and legacy.

    Industry opposition claims Bolerjack

    Stan Lee

While many praise Bolerjack for challenging industry norms by streaming the highly anticipated documentary, numerous comic book fans have taken to social media to present evidence warning against Bolerjack and his alleged history of profiting from Stan Lee.

A Reddit user detailed how Bolerjack supposedly capitalized on Lee’s fame— having the Marvel legend sign artwork for later sale, using Lee’s likeness to promote merchandise, and sharing luxury trips with Lee, including visits to Tokyo Disney and the exclusive Club 33 restaurant.

Additionally, “SmonkBandikush” cited a YouTube video by “Mata Nui,” claiming Bolerjack sold autographed comics and memorabilia of Lee for significant sums and used images of Lee to create NFTs.

Mata Nui argued that the documentary isn’t driven by altruism but rather aimed at profiting from the late Stan Lee. Fans also questioned why Bolerjack hadn’t released footage from the project earlier.

Stan Lee, who died at the age of 95 in 2018, was renowned for co-creating Marvel’s most iconic characters, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Hulk, and many others.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Drops, Villains Revealed

Short clips of the highly anticipated sequel have recently gone viral on social media, captivating fans with a darker tone than previous installments. The trailer combines elements of drama and action while diving into the challenges of being Spider-Man, including its effects on Parker’s personal life, his relationship with MJ, and his school life.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Unveiled: A Look at the New Villains

According to IMDb, “Peter Parker tries to focus on college and move on from being Spider-Man. But when a new threat puts his friends at risk, he has to break his promise and suit up once more, joining forces with an unexpected ally to keep those he cares about safe.”

The newly released trailer also introduces some of the movie’s villains, such as Scorpion (Michael Mando), Tombstone (Krondon), Boomerang (Fred Myers), The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), and members of The Hand ninja clan. Rumors suggest that the symbiote might also play a significant role in the film.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to premiere in theaters on July 31 of this year. The cast includes Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Jon Bernthal as Punisher, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk.

    Spider-Man: Brand New Day

This deck is in Core: Bracket 2, but it’s a fun way to play with all creature types.

    The Commander

Image of Spider-Ham card, from Magic: The Gathering's Spider-Man set.

Just like Spider-Man was an ordinary guy bitten by a radioactive spider, Spider-Ham is a regular spider bitten by a nerdy radioactive pig. This odd accident gave him pig-like qualities and a smart brain. His backstory involves Aunt May Porker trying to make a nuclear-powered hair dryer. His origin is pure fun.

Spider-Ham came into the main spotlight during the 2018 movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and that’s the version you see in Magic. He’s a 2/2 Spider Boar Hero that costs one green and one generic mana to summon, and he enters with a Food token.

A Food token from Magic: The Gathering's Unfinity set.

Although Spider-Ham is a team player, his universe features Captain America as a house cat, Thor as a dog, and Ant-Man just as an ant. He provides a +1/+1 boost to 18 different creature types you’d expect in a forest, such as Spiders, Boars, Wolves, Rabbits, and Lizards.

Some creature types supported by Spider-Ham, like Bats and Rats, aren’t typically shown with a single-green buff.

He doesn’t buff himself and can’t imitate web-slinging to avoid blockers. This means he might not win many battles directly, but his boosts make all your other creatures stronger, threatening your opponents’ boards.

How to Build Spider-Ham’s Commander Deck

Spider-Ham, Peter Porker is pretty straightforward yet versatile enough to build a fun deck around. He works well in a Food-themed deck, but he also provides a broad boost to 18 creature types and encourages creative deck building. You can focus on specific creature types if you want, but the deck is more about using the types as a pool of options to create a powerful, coordinated army.

The deck mostly features mana-generating creatures and small lords that buff themselves and others, creating a snowball effect. It’s like playing Slivers, but with a pig and farmyard friends.

MTG Maskwood Nexus card with the background art.

One card that may seem unnecessary at first is Maskwood Nexus because your entire deck shares creature types supported by Spider-Ham. But it’s useful because it allows you to treat all your creatures as all creature types, making abilities like Thornvault Forager’s more flexible—especially for searching your library for specific types.

With Maskwood Nexus, you can also generate tokens that match Spider-Ham’s supported types. Several cards in the deck create creature tokens, helping you build a strong board without relying solely on your hand.

    Ramp

Since this deck is mono-green, you can rely on classic land tutors to quickly increase your mana instead of mana rocks. You also have mana dorks that fit the theme and boost your mana production, especially if you plan to maximize Spider-Ham’s abilities.

The top choice is Birds of Paradise, which costs one green mana and can tap for mana of any color. Llanowar Elves might be slightly cheaper, but only tap for green, while Ttrailtracker Scout taps for one mana and gets the buff from Spider-Ham.

Another useful creature is Twitching Doll. When you tap it for mana, it gets nest counters. Later, you can sacrifice it to summon a 2/2 Spider with reach for each counter, turning an early mana source into a swarm of spiders late in the game.

Twitching Doll’s second ability counts any type of counter, making it a good target for +1/+1 counters.

The Gilded Goose card from Magic: The Gathering's Throne of Eldraine.

This deck doesn’t focus heavily on Food cards, but it includes some that let you generate Food tokens. The Gilded Goose can turn Food into mana, and can store mana by creating Food tokens to use later for mana, health, or to create Rhino Warrior tokens via Killer Service.

The Cemetery Prowler card from Magic: The Gathering's Crimson Vow.

Cemetery Prowler doesn’t produce mana, but it helps lower the costs of other spells by exiling cards from graveyards. Each exiled card of a certain type (creature or enchantment) makes spells of the same type cheaper, which is handy for graveyard strategies. For example, exiling a creature reduces the cost of all your creatures, and exiling an enchantment reduces the cost of your enchantments.

Note that only cards with a single type are fully affected. For example, only Arasta of the Endless Web, which is an enchantment creature, gets its cost reduced twice because Cemetery Prowler’s effect only applies to colorless mana, not colored mana in multi-type creatures.

Image of Evendo, Waking Haven card from Magic: The Gathering.

Instead of Gaea’s Cradle, which would be perfect but is very expensive and on the Reserved List, the deck uses Evendo, Waking Haven. It enters tapped and taps for one green mana. Once your creatures reach a total power of 12 or more, you can pay one green and tap Evendo to generate one mana for each creature you control.

    Drawing Cards

Green isn’t known for strong card draw, but there are ways to turn your creatures into a reliable draw engine. Toski, Bearer of Secrets, is a small squirrel that’s indestructible, and whenever a creature deals combat damage to a player, you draw a card. Swing wide or trample over defenses to get more cards.

Guardian Project makes you draw a card whenever a non-token creature enters the battlefield, with the only limit being that the creature must have a unique name. Since more than a third of your deck is creatures, it will keep your hand full.

Garruk’s Uprising lets you draw a card whenever a creature with power four or more enters. Many of your creatures, especially with Spider-Ham in play, meet this threshold. It also grants trample to your creatures, making it a good combo with Toski.

Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse Gets New Release Date

Miles Morales is set to return to the big screen in just two years.

During their presentation at CinemaCon, Sony revealed that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will hit theaters on June 4, 2027.

The film was originally scheduled for release on March 29, 2024, but Sony has pulled the third installment from the schedule due to disruptions caused by the strikes in Hollywood during 2023.

New footage was unveiled at CinemaCon, showcasing Miles stating, “Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. I’m gonna do my own thing,” highlighting a moment of defiance for the character.

Directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson take the helm of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Persichetti co-directed the first film, Into the Spider-Verse, while Thompson was the co-director of the sequel, Across the Spider-Verse.

The screenplay will be crafted by David Callaham, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller, with producers including Lord, Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh.

This film marks the finale of the groundbreaking animated trilogy. The first entry, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, released in 2018, was a landmark achievement in animation, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and grossing over $394 million globally.

Following that success, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, released five years later, also enjoyed critical and commercial acclaim, raking in $690 million worldwide and earning an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature.

Shameik Moore lends his voice to Miles Morales/Spider-Man, and Hailee Steinfeld portrays Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman. At the conclusion of Across the Spider-Verse, Miles finds himself in an alternate Earth, where he encounters his counterpart, the villainous Prowler.

For more details, Sony has released new imagery from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

James Bond: Amazon Hiring Spider-Man & Harry Potter Producers

Amazon has officially taken the reins of the James Bond franchise. The next step involves securing producers who will guide 007 into this new chapter under Amazon’s banner.

According to Matt Belloni at Puck, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are in discussions to lead the revitalization of James Bond for Amazon MGM Studios. Although nothing is finalized pending the agreement with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, Pascal and Heyman are reportedly the frontrunners favored by Amazon executives.

Pascal brings a wealth of experience from managing successful franchises, most notably producing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films, which have collectively earned nearly $4 billion globally. During her tenure at Sony, she also played an instrumental role in overseeing several of Daniel Craig’s Bond films, including Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre.

Meanwhile, Heyman has a strong legacy in film, having produced the entire Harry Potter series through his HeyDay Films. He has also been behind recent blockbusters like Wonka and Barbie, with the latter becoming the top-grossing film of 2023.

Belloni also mentions that Amazon MGM Studios intends to launch the next Bond film in theaters before exploring any spin-offs or television adaptations.

Should Pascal and Heyman come on board, the next important task will be to find a director and a writer for the upcoming 007 film. Christopher Nolan is often noted as a potential candidate, although his commitment to the project is still uncertain.

After acquiring MGM in 2022, Amazon secured creative control of Bond last month through a landmark agreement, reportedly paying $1 billion to Broccoli and Wilson for these rights.

With the iconic character now under its umbrella, Amazon faces considerable expectations to successfully reinvigorate the Bond franchise and guide it into the future.

  • Spider-Man 4 From Marvel And Sony Gets New Release Date

Spider-Man 4 From Marvel And Sony Gets New Release Date

Zendaya and Tom Holland in "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
    Sony

Last autumn, Marvel Studios and Sony announced the arrival of Spider-Man 4, set for summer 2026. However, there is a new development regarding its release. Initially scheduled for July 24, 2026, the film’s debut has been moved to Friday, July 31, 2026.

While no official explanation for this delay has been provided, The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that this adjustment will allow Spider-Man 4 to have more space between it and Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, which is set to release on July 17, 2026. Notably, Tom Holland is slated to appear in both films, although the details of his role in Nolan’s project remain undisclosed. Holland has portrayed Spider-Man in the MCU since Captain America: Civil War in 2016 and has starred in a successful trilogy featuring the superhero.

In October 2024, Holland revealed plans to start filming the next Spider-Man installment in the summer of 2025. He previously expressed enthusiasm about the script for the upcoming sequel, stating it “really ignited a passion within me.” It’s highly expected that Holland’s co-star and off-screen partner, Zendaya, will also reprise her role, though this has yet to be officially confirmed.

The film rights to Spider-Man are in the hands of Sony Pictures, which has collaborated with Marvel Studios on the last three films through a distinctive agreement. As part of the renewal that enabled Spider-Man: No Way Home to be produced, Marvel is permitted to feature Holland’s Spider-Man in another film of its choosing. Although the studio has not yet initiated this right, it is very likely that Holland will don the Spider-Man suit for either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, if not both.

  • Strategies to Defeat Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals features a large selection of heroes for you to challenge. Whether you’re engaged in a casual game or a competitive match, understanding your opponents’ weaknesses can help you shine as a key player on your team.

Spider-Man is one of the heroes you might face during gameplay. While he generally isn’t a major threat, a skilled player can turn Spider-Man into a formidable adversary. If he’s played well, he can quickly shift the outcome in favor of the opposing team.

    How to Counter Spider-Man

Spider-Man standing in Marvel Rivals, facing the camera in a comic book style environment.

When you encounter a skilled Spider-Man, his speed and agility are his most dangerous traits.

He zips across the map swiftly, so you’ll need either pinpoint accuracy or to select heroes that can effectively incapacitate him, allowing your team to score some hits.

Make sure to call out Spider-Man’s location frequently when he’s swinging or hanging in one area. If your team focuses fire on him, his health can drop quickly, so the more awareness, the better.

Smart Spider-Man players often move around enemies, pulling them closer for devastating melee attacks.

If you find yourself caught in close combat with him as a ranged or mid-range hero, it’s wise to use any crowd control or evasive maneuvers available, such as Scarlet Witch’s Mystic Projection. Alternatively, aim for headshots while mixing in some melee attacks to catch him off guard.

How to Counter Spider-Man as a Duelist

Scarlet Witch is recommended as an excellent counter against Spider-Man. Her primary attack (Chaos Control) can damage without needing precise aim.

Hold down the attack button and unleash a stream of magic at Spider-Man as he swings nearby. Her attack range works well in close to medium distances.

If he closes the gap and resorts to melee, unleash the Chthonian Burst ability twice, then use Mystic Projection to evade his assaults. This strategy will lower his health and make it easier for your team to finish him off.

Iron Man can also be a tough opponent for Spider-Man, thanks to Stark’s mobility, which makes him challenging to hit and able to deal significant damage. However, due to Spider-Man’s agile nature, hitting him accurately requires considerable skill.

How to Counter Spider-Man as a Strategist

Luna Snow freezing Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals, showcasing her powers during combat.

Halting Spider-Man’s movement is crucial for Strategists, with Luna Snow and Mantis being top choices. Luna Snow is particularly effective due to her Absolute Zero ice attack, which can freeze Spider-Man and refuses to miss when he’s moving less erratically.

While Jeff the Land Shark can avoid Spider-Man through ground concealment, he may not greatly contribute to team efforts in neutralizing him.

The only limitation of Luna Snow’s Absolute Zero is that the ice projectile must hit, making it most viable during moments when he’s not darting around.

Mantis utilizes her Spore Slumber ability to throw a spore bomb that can put an enemy to sleep. This can effectively counter Spider-Man’s melee attacks and allows the team to land powerful strikes similar to Luna’s freezing ability.

Remember to aim slightly upward with Spore Slumber, as this ability has a steep downward arc and will drop more quickly than anticipated.

While Mantis lacks an ability to deal damage without direct hits, making it tough to hit a fast-moving Spider-Man, Luna Snow’s Ice Arts allows for some leeway in targeting due to its effectiveness even when not perfectly aimed.

Both heroes can use their ultimate skills to help keep the team healthy when facing Spider-Man’s attacks, effectively mitigating a lot of damage he might inflict.

How to Counter Spider-Man as a Vanguard

Peni Parker entraps Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals, showcasing teamwork against the foe.

Vanguards are tough for Spider-Man to take down due to their durability. To counter him effectively, consider using Peni Parker. Her Cyber-Web Snare can be launched at Spider-Man to ensnare him for a short time, making it especially useful if he’s airborne.

Once he’s trapped, immediately mark his position for your team. This alerts your allies to his location, paving the way for a coordinated effort to eliminate him as he respawns back from the opposing side.

Venom is another effective counter against Spider-Man in close-range situations because his strength can overpower Spider-Man, but overall, Peni Parker is the standout choice for immobilizing the agile hero.

  • Kevin Feige Shares Miles Morales’ Spider-Man MCU Debut News

Kevin Feige Shares Miles Morales’ Spider-Man MCU Debut News

For years, comic book enthusiasts have speculated about when Miles Morales would make his live-action appearance within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming fueled these hopes by introducing Miles’ uncle, Aaron Davis, played by Donald Glover. In a brief moment, Davis hints at having a nephew he cares for, catching the attention of fans who wished to see more.

Despite this initial tease, not much has transpired in terms of Miles’ introduction to the MCU. However, the character has surged in popularity, largely due to his prominent role in Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man video games and the critically acclaimed animated movies Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After seven years of anticipation, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has recently provided fans with a glimpse of when Miles might finally join the MCU.

In a recent conversation with Omelete, Feige hinted that there’s a possibility for Miles’ arrival in the MCU following the release of Sony’s upcoming third installment of the Spider-Verse series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. He shared, “Miles will appear in the third Spider-Verse, which is in production. I hope that, shortly after that, he can enter the MCU in live-action.”

Sony Pictures Animation / Sony Pictures Animation

Originally scheduled for March 29, 2024, the release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has since been removed, leaving fans uncertain about when they might see Miles Morales in the MCU. Feige’s comments suggest that the character’s live-action debut will come only after the conclusion of Sony’s Spider-Verse trilogy, making it difficult to predict how long fans may have to wait.

Feige appears genuinely enthusiastic about incorporating Miles Morales into the MCU, a sentiment echoed by Tom Holland, who portrays Peter Parker. Holland expressed his desire to see Miles introduced in a live-action adaptation during a chat with Rich Roll. He stated, “If I could be fortunate enough to bring Miles Morales into my Spider-Man universe and into the MCU, I’d love to provide a young kid with the opportunity similar to what [Robert] Downey [Jr.] did for me.”

In summary, it seems that Miles Morales’ future in the MCU is more about timing rather than possibility.
