Yoga Sunburst

  • Top Legends to Dominate in Apex Legends Season 24 Takeover

Top Legends to Dominate in Apex Legends Season 24 Takeover

With the new season, Apex Legends has introduced balancing changes that significantly alter the gameplay, a trend we hope continues in future updates. Last season emphasized a support meta, which was highlighted in the patch notes as "Season 23: The Season of Supports!" This season appears to be shifting the focus toward the Assault class.

But what does this mean for the other Legends? With the recent nerfs to the Support class, how do they stack up? To help clarify these changes, we’ve put together a tier list for this season’s Legends. Let’s break down our ranking criteria first.

    How Our Ranking Was Determined

There are five Classes of Legends, each containing several characters that fulfill specific roles (Supports assist the team, Skirmishers excel in agility and aggression, etc.). Each Class provides unique perks that enhance their effectiveness in their designated role, which is crucial for their overall potential.

In Split 1, no new Legends were added, bringing us to 26 Legends to evaluate. Here are the key factors we considered for the tier list:

    • Versatility of abilities in Battle Royale settings
    • Alignment with their intended role
    • Perks offered by their Class
    • Impact of upgrades on overall performance
    • Changes in potential from early-game to late-game

It’s important to note that this tier list isn’t definitive. Playstyle can greatly influence a player’s performance with different Legends, so this is more of a guide for those exploring new options or seeking Legends with strong combat capabilities.

The developers have buffed many Legends this season, leading to a situation where any character is a viable choice. Consequently, our tier list will consist of four streamlined tiers, rather than the usual five or six. Here’s how they break down:

    Tier Summary
S Tier Legends with the highest potential. These characters are undeniably strong in nearly any situation and provide unique advantages to the team.
A Tier Great picks that significantly help the team. Most Legends strive to be in this tier to avoid giving unfair advantages.
B Tier Balanced characters that require skill to unlock their full potential. These Legends can compete well but necessitate practice and awareness.
C Tier These picks may feel weaker but can still perform well in the right hands. However, they lack the edge needed to be recommended currently.

    S Tier

As expected, this tier is reserved for the elite Legends. This season represents a refreshing change in balance, leading to fewer Legends qualifying for the S tier, which is excellent news. A more exclusive S tier implies that many characters are more closely matched in power, putting more emphasis on a player’s individual style. Here are the standout choices:

    Name Class Description
Ash Assault Ash makes a mark this season with her remarkable dash and enhanced abilities, making her a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
Lifeline Support Despite nerfs to the Support class, Lifeline remains a vital asset for her healing abilities and quick revives, ensuring the survival of her teammates.
Ballistic Assault Ballistic has experienced a resurgence this season with buffs that enhance both Care Package weapons and regular weapons, making him a strong contender in early and late-game circumstances.

    A Tier

The A tier is for solid choices that excel in various scenarios without appearing overly dominant. This tier features a blend of characters and is worth exploring for players searching for suitable Legends that align with their play style.

    Name Class Description
Mad Maggie Assault Known for her chaotic playstyle, Mad Maggie shines this season by breaking enemy cover and providing a strategic advantage to her team.
Fuse Assault Fuse excels at area control and combat maintenance, complementing his offensive capabilities.
Mirage Support A master of chaos, Mirage can confuse enemies during critical moments, although he may struggle in earlier battles.
Loba Support Loba continues to provide valuable loot and escape options for her team, remaining viable despite subtle nerfs.
Newcastle Support Newcastle is a traditional Support powerhouse, excelling as a protector who can keep his team shielded during fights.
Horizon Skirmisher Horizon remains a top-tier Skirmisher, still highly useful although evenly matched against newly buffed Legends.

    B Tier

The B tier welcomes Legends that are viable and well-rounded but may require more player skill to maximize their effectiveness. This tier contains many of the game’s roster, offering a sense of balance.

    Name Class Description
Crypto Recon While the role of Recon has less significance in today’s game, Crypto stands out with his unique abilities that can still make a difference in combat.
Gibraltar Support Gibraltar remains strong with excellent defensive capabilities, although he might lack versatility compared to higher-tier characters.
Wraith Skirmisher A classic choice, Wraith is known for her balanced role that rewards player skill, retaining her value in competitive play.
Revenant Skirmisher Although more suited for aggressive playstyles, Revenant is less supportive of his team, requiring a specific approach to shine effectively.
Pathfinder Skirmisher Pathfinder still boasts great mobility, though recent changes have affected his overall viability.
Wattson Controller Wattson excels in securing areas but struggles in the current meta, which favors aggressive playstyles over defensive ones.

    C Tier

Finally, we arrive at the C tier, where fewer Legends find themselves. Though they may not be as strong as others, skillful players can still unlock their potential. However, they may not fit the current meta effectively.

    Name Class Description
Conduit Support Recently, Conduit has struggled due to shifts in healing dynamics, limiting her effectiveness in controlling areas.
Valkyrie Recon Valkyrie needs significant buffs to enhance her current standing, as her abilities require precise execution to be useful.
Bloodhound Recon Bloodhound remains a solid choice, but many of his strengths are overshadowed by other Legends with more versatile kits.
Caustic Controller While still capable, Caustic faces challenges in the current meta that limit his effectiveness in controlling areas.
Seer Recon Unfortunately, Seer’s current state leaves him lacking viable options for impactful contributions, making him the least favorable pick this season.

In summary, while each Legend has its strengths, player skill and teamwork ultimately determine success in Apex Legends. Explore different characters to discover which ones resonate with your unique playstyle!

  • Unlocking Rift Relics in Apex Legends: A Complete Guide

Unlocking Rift Relics in Apex Legends: A Complete Guide

With the launch of Season 23 in Apex Legends, Rift Relics have started to pop up all over the maps. Every week brings a new quest tied to these Relics, and during Split 2, players were introduced to a weapon unique to them.

Completing these missions rewards you with Apex Packs. This guide is designed to help you locate Rift Relics, understand the potential loot inside, and provide tips for your search. Let’s jump into it by first explaining what Rift Relics are.

    What Are Rift Relics?

Rift Relics are essentially Loot Ticks that contain exclusive loot. They appear across the map only in Casual modes, including Trios and Duos, making their loot unavailable elsewhere in the game.

Each Rift Relic holds two randomly chosen items from a selection of drops and can be destroyed by dealing damage like a typical Loot Tick.

Potential drops include Relic Weapons and Boost Kits.

    What Are Relic Weapons?

A Relic G7 Scout, a Relic Weapon found in Rift Relics in Apex Legends.

Relic Weapons are the original versions of weapons; they feature the mechanics they had at their release. For instance, the Relic G7 Scout has minimal recoil and includes a 4-8x Sniper Scope, making it more effective.

The only exception is the EPG-1, which is a completely new weapon added in Split 2, formerly hinted at for Apex Legends. Originating from Titanfall 2, it functions more like an RPG, launching explosive plasma blasts at foes.

    What Are Boost Kits?

Two Boost Kits that can only be found in Rift Relics in Apex Legends.

Boost Kits are passive items that occupy your survival slot, typically reserved for Heat Shields and Evac Towers. They provide powerful buffs that go beyond standard survival items.

While they generally enhance survivability over offensive capabilities, some Boost Kits do offer damage bonuses as well.

    How to Get Rift Relics?

Three purple beacons indicating Rift Relics in Apex Legends.

To find Rift Relics, join a Duos or Trios match, as this system operates under a Limited Time Mode (LTM) and is not available in Ranked play.

Once the match begins and all players have dropped, Rift Relics will spawn at random locations on the map. They will be spaced out, so two won’t appear in the same spot. You’ll get a notification when they start to spawn, and you can identify their locations by the purple beacons coming from above.

These beacons indicate where Rift Relics are, so be prepared for enemies who might also be after them. When you reach a Rift Relic, destroy it to access the loot inside.

If two Boost Kits come from one Rift Relic, keep in mind that only one can be picked up, so you must choose wisely.

After the initial wave, each closing Ring will lead to a new spawn of Rift Relics. As the map shrinks with the Ring, the Relics will appear closer together in each wave.

Rift Relics remaining from previous rounds will detonate if they’re caught in the Ring, causing the loot inside to vanish completely.

All Items That Can Spawn in Rift Relics

The Relic Prowler, an item found in Rift Relics in Apex Legends.

Each week, a new item is added to the loot pool you might find in the Rift Relics. However, this list isn’t exhaustive; more items will be revealed over time. Currently, you can find these Relic Weapons from the Relics, ranked from best to worst:

    Weapon

    Description

    Relic Prowler

This gun was known for its minimal recoil and high damage, especially with the Selectfire Hopup. It’s a strong weapon that can easily dominate opponents.

    Relic Alternator

With Disruptor Rounds, this weapon could wipe out shields in an instant, making it arguably one of the best weapons in the game’s early days.

    Relic Mastiff

This powerful shotgun was once a Care Package item. As a random drop from Rift Relics, it still has considerable damage potential.

    Relic Spitfire

With its enormous magazine size, you can take down multiple enemies without having to reload, though it lacks Hop-ups.

    Relic Wingman

This iconic weapon is back in its former glory and still features a Skullpiercer for increased damage.

    EPG-1

This new weapon has a unique function; although it can be situational, it’s useful for clearing groups of enemies with its grenade-like attacks.

    Relic G7 Scout

Once the best sniper in the game, its low recoil and high magazine size provide an edge for skilled players.

    Relic 30-30

This Marksman weapon stands strong, especially with its fast reloads and headshot damage capabilities.

    Relic L-Star

While it has improved since its original launch, modern versions of the L-Star allow for more ammo capacity.

Additionally, here are the Boost Kits you can discover, also ranked from best to worst:

    Boost Kit

    Description

    Void Reflex

This Boost Kit enables you to phase for a few seconds after taking lethal damage, allowing you to reposition and heal. It functions like Wraith’s phase but is instant and has a cooldown.

    Nessies

These adorable creatures automatically chase and attack opponents. While they may reveal your location, they are excellent for distracting enemies and dealing bonus damage.

    Reactive Regen

This passive allows you to regenerate health and shields while out of combat. It’s handy during the final circles, especially if healing items are scarce.

    Squal Heal

Whenever you heal, nearby teammates also regain health. This can be effective, but it requires close proximity to your squad.

    Hover

This ability enables players to hover mid-air while aiming down sights. However, it offers limited utility, as players are rarely airborne.

  • EA Takes Apex Legends Off Steam Deck Over Linux Cheating

EA Takes Apex Legends Off Steam Deck Over Linux Cheating

A Legend Upgrade ability is used in Apex Legends.
    EA

Electronic Arts has announced that it will immediately revoke access to its popular battle royale game, Apex Legends, for Steam Deck and Linux users as part of its ongoing efforts to address cheating issues.

In an update posted on the Apex Legends forums (as noted by The Verge), an EA representative explained that this decision was made in response to a significant number of cheating exploits linked to Linux-based installations. Since the Steam Deck operates on a Linux foundation (SteamOS is built on Debian and utilizes Proton for compatibility with Windows and Mac games), this effectively means that Steam Deck users will also lose access.

The spokesperson elaborated, “We had to consider the impact of Linux and Steam Deck players in relation to the overall health of the game’s community. Although the number of Linux players is relatively small, their presence has negatively affected the gaming experience for many others. This led us to our current decision.”

However, players can still enjoy Apex Legends on a Steam Deck if they install Windows, although it won’t operate through the default launcher. Additionally, PC users can continue to access the game on Steam without any restrictions.

Previously, EA reported that since the game’s launch, it has banned over 6 million accounts, averaging more than 100,000 bans per month. Anti-cheat measures in place involve Easy Anti-Cheat to oversee cheating across EA’s games.

This isn’t an isolated incident, as other major titles have faced similar restrictions. Last month, Rockstar removed both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online from the Steam Deck following the integration of BattlEye Anti-Cheat, although the specific reasons for the incompatibility were not detailed.
