The newer generation thrives on content that spans a few seconds to a couple of minutes.
This is one of the primary reasons why Chinese owned TikTok app became such a trend in no time. It allowed creators to develop engaging content within a limited time window.
However, the news is that TikTok has been pondering over the idea of allowing longer videos. Some testing phase features enable users to upload videos for 10 minutes in duration. The reason? As with all apps worldwide (and much to the dismay of the users), Ad Revenue! Bummer, right? But it will let the company make more money by adding more ads in the videos.
WIRED recently revealed that users do not favor longer videos as it adds to the already stressful routine. Plus, other platforms like YouTube are already loaded with long videos, so it makes little sense to consider putting your users through a change as significant (and disappointing) as this. Let’s just wait and see what TikTok eventually decides to do.
