The Swipe Up link feature commonly used by influencers, content creators, and brands to link websites, online stores, and products on Instagram stories will be a thing of the past 30th August onwards, to be replaced by Line Stickers.
Although the feature has been rolled out to selected users since June this year, the company says a wider audience will be able to use this feature on their Stories at the end of this month.
Link Stickers pose a fair advantage over the time-old Swipe-up option. The Link Stickers provide users with choices between different styles, resizing and then placing it anywhere like polls, questions, and location stickers.
You will be able to reply to post and also react at the line stickers which wasn’t previously allowed due to swipe up link.
Jane Manchun Wong, the app researcher, was the first to notice the company’s plan to lay down the Swipe-up feature. In an unofficial count, close to 10,000 users currently have access to this feature.
To maintain the app’s integrity and safety, Instagram might be evaluating if it should be expanding the Link Sticker feature for more accounts or not, although the company is not changing anything for now.
Even though it is a pretty creative feature per se, but it can become a nuisance if it gets into the wrong hands. Spamming will be a major threat that Instagram will have to counter time and again.
In short, introducing the Link Stickers is a genius option to increase engagement and market products, collect donations, release music, etc, the options are endless really. The interactive choices make it even more lucrative and appealing.
Instagram will have to keep a keen eye for malicious activities, though.
