The countdown has begun! We are now under 24 hours away from a highly anticipated Apple event that will showcase the iPhone 16 along with other exciting products. Just ahead of the main event, a slew of last-minute speculations have surfaced, revealing fresh insights about the iPhone 16, its accessories, AirPods, and much more.
Camera Innovations for the iPhone 16
On Friday, we shared some exciting new features that the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to introduce this year:
- 4K video recording capabilities at a stunning 120 frames per second
- ProRes 4K video recording support when connected to external storage
- 4K recording support during QuickTake
- Compatibility with the JPEG-XL format for both lossy and lossless photography
- Enhanced controls for pausing and resuming video recordings within the Camera app
- Built-in functionality to reduce wind noise in videos
Moreover, it’s been reported that the new Capture button on the iPhone 16 will also work seamlessly with third-party camera applications, in addition to Apple’s own Camera app.
Accessories for the iPhone 16
This past weekend, an image leaked online showcased six potential colors for the upcoming iPhone 16 cases. These new cases will be crafted from innovative materials, serving as a replacement for the previously criticized FineWoven cases that came with the iPhone 15.

- Dark Purple
- Green
- Light Gray
- Taupe
In addition, Apple is reportedly designing an integrated construction for these cases that will accommodate the Capture button, moving away from just a simple cutout design.
Introducing Apple Watch Series 10
On Friday, we also revealed details about the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10. In addition to larger displays, this new watch will feature an improved ECG/heart rate sensor for enhanced accuracy. Further, upgrades to the water resistance of the Apple Watch are in the works this year.
Excitingly, new watch faces will be introduced to fully utilize the Apple Watch Series 10’s larger screen. One of these new faces, named “Reflections,” will creatively respond to ambient light changes.
According to Bloomberg, the Apple Watch Series 10 will also include sleep apnea detection, although this capability may not be available right at launch and could be introduced later through a software update. Apple had ambitions to present hypertension detection with this series as well, but that feature has faced delays.
Updates on iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and Beyond
During the event, Apple will also reveal launch dates for its forthcoming software updates, which include iOS 18, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, iPadOS 18, and visionOS 2.
Notably, this year’s macOS Sequoia is expected to be released sooner than usual, with reports indicating a public launch by mid-September. According to “MacRumors,” this will be the earliest macOS release in several years. In contrast, macOS Sonoma launched on September 26 last year, with many updates traditionally debuting in October or November following the iOS rollout in September.
No New iPads, Macs, or AirPods Max
If new iPads, Macs, or AirPods Max were on your wishlist for tomorrow’s event, you might be disappointed. As per Bloomberg’s report, Apple plans to host an additional event in October to cover updates to the Mac mini, iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad mini, and other products.
Additionally, Apple is working on an update for AirPods Max, featuring USB-C charging and fresh color options. Although this update is expected to launch this year, a specific date remains unconfirmed. In contrast, new AirPods 4 are slated to be unveiled during tomorrow’s event.
