Huawei is making waves in the tech world with the introduction of the first-ever dual-hinged, triple-screen foldable smartphone: the Mate XT Ultimate Design. This innovative device comes with a hefty price tag, starting at 19,999 yuan (approximately $2,809) for the 256GB version, which is about $300 more than the latest 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Every model of the Mate XT is equipped with 16GB of RAM, and potential buyers can choose from additional storage options: 512GB for 21,999 yuan (around $3,089) and 1TB for 23,999 yuan (approximately $3,370). Before the pricing was revealed, Chinese retailer Vmall reported an impressive 3.7 million preorders for the device.

The Mate XT employs an innovative dual-hinge mechanism that allows it to fold in a “Z” shape, offering versatility for various uses. It features a 6.4-inch OLED display when folded, which expands to an impressive 10.2 inches (2,232 x 3,184) when fully opened. Additionally, it can be partially unfolded to function in a more compact 7.9-inch mode.

In terms of power, the Mate XT is equipped with a robust 5,600mAh battery supporting both 66W of wired charging and 50W of wireless charging. The rear camera setup boasts a triple configuration, including a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 12-megapixel periscope camera. For selfies, the device features an 8-megapixel camera positioned on the far left of the screen when opened up.

While inquiries have been made to Huawei about the potential for availability outside of China, expectations are low for an international release.
