The Nintendo Switch 2 will feature updated editions of both Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, alongside a new application called Zelda Notes. This app has generated significant buzz as it brings a plethora of features including navigation assistance, auto-build sharing, and the intriguing ability to repair in-game weapons.
Nintendo has been somewhat vague regarding this specific functionality, only noting on its Zelda Notes features page that players can “Test your luck once per day in Zelda Notes. Get hearts, meals, or other effects based on the result.” Popular Zelda content creator Zeltik has shared insights about the app, particularly highlighting potential bonuses players can unlock, including the “Equipment Repairs” feature.
In Tears of the Kingdom, players have a few methods for mending damaged items; however, these don’t always yield success. The new mechanic offered by Zelda Notes is an additional way to maintain your treasured weapons, though it’s based on a daily random chance, available only once every 24 hours. This feature is unlikely to disrupt the game’s balance, serving instead as an enjoyable perk for gamers.

The updated versions of these games are set to release on June 5, coinciding with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Players who currently own the games can upgrade to the new versions for $10 each. Those subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will have access to both upgrades at no additional cost.
Besides enhanced performance, the new releases will incorporate a system of achievements through Zelda Notes. Players will be able to keep track of various accomplishments, such as the number of shrines completed or locations explored, allowing for comparison against friends and on global leaderboards. If you’ve been considering diving back into this adventure, summer may offer the perfect opportunity to save Hyrule once again.
