Today marks the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, leading to a surge of players diving into the single-player campaign, revamped multiplayer, and Zombies mode. Although gaming communities online are buzzing, reports indicate that players on PC, particularly those using Steam, are experiencing some difficulties.

Frustration with third-party launchers on Steam has become increasingly common, and Black Ops 6 is no exception. The game utilizes Call of Duty HQ (COD HQ) as its main platform, allowing players to manage their installations. This means users can choose which game modes to download or initiate a specific game. Unfortunately, players often find themselves navigating through multiple menus to access the desired mode, and in some cases, they struggle to start the game at all.

“COD HQ is the worst thing that has happened to the series. I shouldn’t have to click through ten menus just to find what I want,” voiced a disgruntled Reddit user, expressing frustrations about frequent crashes. Several others echoed this sentiment, stating that the HQ crashes when attempting to launch.

Steam users who have purchased the Vault Edition are also facing issues, particularly with being unable to access the Woods Operate Pack. The development team is actively working on a solution.

Despite these challenges, Black Ops 6 currently boasts a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam. While it’s probable that most players won’t encounter problems, those eager to jump right into the game may find themselves needing to exercise a bit of patience.

Overall, Black Ops 6 seems poised to continue the franchise’s legacy of success. Industry analysts predict that although releasing the game on Xbox Game Pass might decrease overall sales, it could attract 2.5 to 4 million new subscribers to the service.
