WASHINGTON: Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and former Republican President Donald Trump are facing off for the presidency, as polls begin to tighten across the nation.
Currently, U.S. media outlets report that Trump has claimed victory in 23 states, which include significant wins in Texas and Ohio, as well as the critical battleground of North Carolina and several other states that typically lean Republican.
On the other hand, Harris has secured 12 states, prominently featuring high electoral vote states like California and New York, along with the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.
At this stage, Trump holds 232 electoral votes while Harris has garnered 216. To win the presidency, a candidate must reach 270 electoral votes. Analysts anticipate that this fiercely contested election will hinge on a few crucial battleground states.
