The Walking Dead has officially made its way into Fortnite, introducing a range of new weaponry, foes, and building materials. Players in Fortnite can now craft custom islands utilizing assets from The Walking Dead in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and in Fortnite Creative. As an exciting addition, when version 34.30 launches on April 8, players will welcome Negan as a non-player character (NPC), with the chance to play as him appearing on April 4.
And here’s the exciting news: you can begin constructing now (though your islands won’t be publishable on the Creator Portal until May 16). If you’ve taken a break from Fortnite, you’ll notice the game has evolved massively, far exceeding just the battle royale experience and incorporating a wealth of user-generated content and various game styles.
Among the new adversaries are Walkers, a sluggish, shambling horde — basically what most people envision when they think of zombies. They’re relatively easy to defeat in small numbers, but grouped together, they pose a significant threat. If a player gets bitten, they incur damage over time, echoing a classic horror trope: once bitten, there’s little hope left.

The Prison Starter Island offers a foundation for your map, but you can also utilize the Flat Grid Template to design a unique space. Opt for the classic zombie-slaying Shiva Shotgun or wield Negan’s infamous bat, Lucille, perfect for smacking down those mindless foes.
A multitude of guides and documentation is available to help you dive in. The Fortnite community thrives on creating fresh, custom content that keeps the gameplay entertaining long after the initial excitement of winning subsides, and this collaboration is a fantastic opportunity to continue that legacy.
