A game doesn’t need to be hyper-realistic to boast impressive graphics. We're eagerly anticipating Ghost of Yotei alongside South of Midnight, even though they feature vastly different art styles. Another title to keep an eye on is The Midnight Walk, which embraces a unique claymation aesthetic. While its visuals are captivating, the world-building, character development, and mood are equally enticing. If you appreciate unconventional horror games, you should definitely check out this forthcoming PS5 and PC title. Here’s all the information you need.
Release Date

The Midnight Walk is set to be released on May 8, 2025.
Platforms

Regrettably, fans of Xbox and Nintendo will have to sit this one out, as The Midnight Walk will only be available for PS5 and PC. The game will also be compatible with VR headsets for an immersive experience.
Trailers
The Midnight Walk introduces itself with a brief trailer showcasing the game’s surreal claymation style. Players will control a character known as the Burnt One, who rises from the grave and encounters a lantern named Potboy, endowed with the power to produce fire. Together, they'll traverse a world intent on seizing that fire. The game consists of five tales revolving around themes of fire and darkness, although specific narrative details are still under wraps.
We can also expect to meet a range of bizarre and frightening characters and creatures throughout this journey.
Gameplay
Players will experience The Midnight Walk from a first-person perspective, enhancing the VR gameplay aspect, as they explore a meticulously crafted world. Each element from environments to characters and monsters is modeled in clay and then digitized, providing a tactile feel despite their eerie appearances.
The gameplay appears to focus on exploration and interaction with non-playable characters (NPCs), while also including stealth mechanics and chase scenes with hostile enemies. Although a firearm is glimpsed, it seems to merely irritate the monsters rather than cause them any real harm.
There may be escort quest elements involved, particularly in the task of safeguarding Potboy, but details remain ambiguous based on the current previews.
Preorder

With its launch date approaching on May 8, preorders for The Midnight Walk are currently available on the PlayStation Store. There is only one edition, but subscribers to PlayStation Plus can enjoy a 10% discount on their purchase.
At this time, PC users are unable to preorder, but they can still add it to their wishlist on Steam.
