After a lengthy period of speculation, Tom Holland has finally clarified the status of Spider-Man 4.
During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland confirmed that a fourth Spider-Man film is indeed in the works. The 28-year-old actor also shared that filming will commence next summer.
“It’s happening,” Holland stated enthusiastically when asked about the new installment. “Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there. Super exciting. I can’t wait.”
The excitement didn’t stop there. While promoting his non-alcoholic beer, Bero, on Good Morning America, Holland hinted at some wild concepts that Marvel and Sony have in store for Spider-Man 4.
“The idea is crazy,” Holland said. “It’s a little different from anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are gonna really respond to it.”
This announcement comes shortly after Holland accepted a leading role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film. His tentative schedule includes filming Nolan’s project in early 2025, followed by Spider-Man 4 next summer. In between these projects, Holland is likely to shoot scenes for Avengers: Doomsday.
Additionally, Destin Daniel Cretton is in discussions to direct Spider-Man 4. The script is being penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the creative duo behind Holland’s previous three Spider-Man films. Production will be overseen by Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Sony’s Amy Pascal.
If Spider-Man 4 starts filming in the summer of 2025, fans might wonder when they can expect to see it on the big screen. Following The Fantastic Four in July 2025, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has set dates for just two other films: Avengers: Doomsday on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
Marvel has several untitled films lined up for release on February 13, 2026; November 6, 2026; July 23, 2027; and November 5, 2027. The studio has also scheduled three additional dates for 2028. Fans can anticipate a quick turnaround for Spider-Man 4, with potential release dates likely falling in November 2026 or July 2027.
