Samsung appears to be stuck in a cycle of monotony regarding smartphone innovation recently. Competitors like the Huawei Mate XT, Oppo Find N5, and Honor Magic V3 have raised the bar with their daring designs and remarkable specifications. However, it seems that Samsung is poised for a notable shift this year.
The well-known leaker OnLeaks (via Android Headlines) has unveiled purported product renders and a video showcasing the Galaxy Z Fold 7, set to make its global introduction in the latter half of 2025. While the design retains a familiar aesthetic, its profile appears significantly slimmer compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The leaked materials indicate that the upcoming device will have a thickness of just 9.5mm, making it approximately 1.5mm thinner than Samsung’s latest foldable flagship. Furthermore, when fully unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be even slimmer than the recently released Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

On the hardware front, this new model is expected to feature an 8.2-inch flexible inner display and a 6.5-inch OLED cover screen. As anticipated, it will be powered by Qualcomm’s leading Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and the battery capacity will remain at 4,400mAh without significant enhancements in charging speed.
The most significant upgrade may come in the camera department. Reports suggest that Samsung is considering a 200-megapixel primary camera for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, positioning it alongside the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The ultrawide and telephoto lenses are likely to continue using 12-megapixel and 10-megapixel sensors, respectively.

In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and a corresponding clamshell Flip version, Samsung may unveil a surprising new device during its next Unpacked event this year. Drawing inspiration from Huawei’s Mate XT, the company could also introduce a tri-fold smartphone around July.
This ambitious model will reportedly sport two display sections, reminiscent of the Galaxy Flex G concept presented at CES 2022. The inner display will be segmented into three parts across two crease lines, with the outer sections folding inwards for a tri-layered appearance. Production numbers for this unique device will be extremely limited, and it may only be available in select markets at first.
