As we welcome January 2024, the Galaxy S24 lineup has just been introduced, but there’s already buzz around next year’s anticipated Galaxy S25 collection.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Anticipated Release Date
Historically, Samsung has rolled out its flagship S-series smartphones at the start of the year, generally between January and March.
The Galaxy S24 debut was a tad earlier than its predecessors. Without any solid hints regarding the Galaxy S25’s release, let’s analyze the past launch dates:
- Galaxy S22: Announced February 9, 2022; released February 25, 2022
- Galaxy S23: Announced February 1, 2023; released February 17, 2023
- Galaxy S24: Announced January 17, 2024; released January 31, 2024
In light of these patterns, we speculate that the Galaxy S25 could be unveiled sometime between January and March, although we lack clear directions to confirm this.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Expected Price
Samsung has maintained relatively stable pricing for its base and Plus models within the Galaxy S family over the years. Let’s review what we’ve seen previously:
- Galaxy S22: $799 (base), $999 (Plus), $1,199 (Ultra)
- Galaxy S23: $799 (base), $999 (Plus), $1,199 (Ultra)
- Galaxy S24: $799 (base), $999 (Plus), $1,299 (Ultra)
The base and Plus models have consistently been priced at $799 and $999 for the past three iterations. However, the Galaxy S24 Ultra saw a $100 increase in price compared to its predecessors, maintaining the same base storage but coming with added RAM.
We don’t expect another price hike for the Galaxy S25 lineup, but final confirmation will only come closer to the release date.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Design Concepts
The design of the Galaxy S series has not undergone substantial shifts in recent years, but the Galaxy S25 may bring notable changes.
Leaker Revengus revealed in December 2023 that Ilhwan Lee, formerly of Mercedes-Benz and now the design lead of Samsung’s MX division, is focused on refreshing the Galaxy aesthetic. This hints at considerable design modifications for the S25 moving forward.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra already began incorporating titanium elements into its build, following a trend set by Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro. It’s likely that the S25 Ultra will continue utilizing titanium, although it remains uncertain whether this will extend to the base and Plus variants.
A March 2024 report suggested Samsung is testing four different prototypes for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While these prototypes appear similar to the S24 Ultra, variations in design are present.
Among the prototypes, one shows a streamlined profile with thinner bezels; another displays a flatter frame with minimal bezels. Other variations included slightly thicker borders at the top and bottom, with some suggestions of rounded corners, which could enhance grip comfort.
Additionally, rumors suggest Samsung might drop the “Ultra” designation in favor of “Galaxy S25 Note,” reviving the Note series. This rebranding could create distinctions from the standard S25 and S25 Plus models, though it may surprise fans who preferred the simplicity of the S designations.
While little is known about the base Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus design, rumors point to a slight increase in size, with the regular S25’s display possibly measuring 6.36 inches rather than 6.2 inches.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Display Features
Details about the display of the Galaxy S25 are scarce at this time. However, trends suggest an increase in screen sizes for both the standard Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra.
According to leaker Ice Universe, the S25 Ultra might shrink slightly in overall dimensions but gain a larger screen due to thinner bezels. This report also indicates a potential increase in diagonal display size.
There’s speculation that Samsung could debut next-generation OLED displays with the Galaxy S25, featuring innovative fingerprint scanning technology that would enable activation from any portion of the screen.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Performance Insights
Samsung has predominantly utilized Qualcomm processors over the last few years, alongside its own Exynos chips in select markets. The S24 series employs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip in the U.S. and the Exynos 2400 elsewhere.
Going forward, we anticipate that the Galaxy S25 will leverage the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, set to be unveiled officially at the Snapdragon Summit in October 2024. There’s also chatter about possibly including MediaTek chips in the lineup, although details remain unclear.
Regarding RAM, the base Galaxy S25 and Plus should boast at least 8GB, while the Ultra model may receive an increase to 16GB.
With Android 15 expected to launch before the S25, we can anticipate One UI 7 running on all variants, complemented by Samsung’s commitment to a four-year software update cycle.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Camera Enhancements
Improvements in the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera setup are on the horizon. Samsung is expected to retain the 200MP primary camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Changes may include replacing the current 10MP telephoto lens with a new 50MP variant featuring 3x zoom.
Additionally, upgrades to sensors are anticipated, with leaker reports suggesting enhancements for both the ultrawide and 3x telephoto lenses.

Reports suggest that Samsung is experimenting with innovative battery stacking methods usually found in electric vehicles, which could enhance energy capacity within a more compact design. Initially, it appears the S25 will maintain the 4,000mAh capacity from the S24, with the Ultra model expected to stick with a 5,000mAh battery.
While those expecting a larger battery may feel let down, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is already energy efficient. If Samsung utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, users can look forward to impressive battery longevity.
