The PlayStation 5 represents a significant investment, but there’s now a way to enjoy one without making a big upfront payment. PlayStation Direct has launched a rental initiative in the United Kingdom, allowing users to rent a PlayStation 5 starting from just 10.99 GBP, which is approximately $15.
This program is a partnership between Sony and Raylo. Participants have options to choose from five different plans. The most affordable choice is the PlayStation 5 Digital edition, beginning at 10.99 GBP per month for a 36-month lease. The cost increases for shorter lease terms, with a month-to-month plan available at 21.95 GBP, offering the flexibility to cancel at any time.
For those considering the higher-end models, the PlayStation 5 Pro is the priciest option, starting at 18.95 GBP monthly for a 36-month commitment and rising to 26.99 GBP per month for a 12-month term. If you prefer not to commit to a lease, the lease-free alternative costs 35.59 GBP per month. A major advantage is that shipping is complimentary, and there’s no initial payment required, providing a great opportunity for gamers on a budget to explore a variety of games without a long-term obligation.

Additionally, at the end of the lease, you are not obliged to return the console. According to Raylo, you can choose to upgrade to another model, continue paying the same monthly rate, or cancel the contract by returning the device. Device insurance is also available, starting at 3.99 GBP each month.
One of the standout benefits of this rental program is its commitment to sustainability. When a user finishes with their PlayStation 5 and returns it, it enables another person to enjoy the same console without the environmental impact of new production. While the initiative might affect overall PlayStation 5 sales figures, it significantly increases access for a broader range of gamers.
