Connections is the newest puzzle offering from the New York Times. In this game, players must sort a set of 16 words into four hidden categories by discerning their interrelations. The puzzle refreshes daily at midnight, presenting varying challenges. Much like Wordle, you can track your successful streak and see how your scores measure up against those of your friends.

Some puzzles can be more challenging than others. If you’re facing difficulty with today’s Connections puzzle, our helpful hints and tips are listed below. And if you’re still stuck, the answers will be revealed at the end.

How to play Connections

In Connections, you are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your goal is to categorize these words into four groups of four based on their common themes. These categories can include anything from video game series names to color shades or even restaurant chains.

It’s common for certain words to appear to belong to several groups, but there is ultimately one definitive arrangement. You can shuffle the word grid to help clarify possible connections.

The groups are color-coded for assistance: the yellow group is the easiest, while the difficulty progresses through green, blue, and purple.

Select four words and press Submit. If you’re correct, that set will be cleared from the grid, and the theme will be disclosed. However, picking incorrectly counts as a mistake, with a limit of four mistakes allowed before the game ends.
