American swimming sensation Katie Ledecky has made history by becoming the most decorated female Olympian in US history.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Ledecky secured a silver medal in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay, bringing her total Olympic medal count to 13. This accomplishment surpasses the previous record of 12 medals set by Jenny Thompson.
The US team, featuring Ledecky alongside Bella Sims, Allison Schmitt, and Claire Weinstein, finished the relay with a time of 7:39.24, claiming the silver medal behind the Australian team, which clocked in at 7:38.08, setting a new Olympic benchmark.
Ledecky, a participant in three Olympic Games, has been a dominant force in the pool since her debut as a 15-year-old at the London 2012 Olympics. With a collection of seven gold and six silver medals in both individual and team events, her remarkable consistency and excellence in swimming are evident.
