While it boasts a range of at least 300 miles, making it capable for longer journeys, the Concept EV2 is primarily intended as an affordable vehicle for city driving.
Kia drew inspiration from outdoor city spaces like balconies and terraces, aiming to provide a mix of practicality for errands during the week and leisure for weekend escapes to nearby natural attractions. Features like extendable seating in the rear, integrated speakers in the headrests, and pop-up luggage dividers enhance the compact design while emphasizing a carefree lifestyle.
Sustainability is a key focus, with materials like cellulose-based compounds used for the dashboard and door panels, alongside biodegradable components like mycelium for the armrests. This approach uses mycelium, a material derived from mushroom-like cells, to create a composite that integrates waste materials.
The mini SUV is slated to hit the market next year, with an estimated price point around $30,000.
