iPhone SE Could Have An Unexpected Surprise Next Year

The upcoming iPhone SE, anticipated to debut in 2025, looks to be one of the most exciting smartphones Apple has introduced in recent times. Interestingly, there’s also a Plus version in the works for next year.

A Japanese site, Macotakara, has released photos claiming to show a “3D printed mockup” of the new iPhone SE. The design appears remarkably similar to that of the iPhone 14, a detail corroborated by Bloomberg.

It seems that the fourth-generation iPhone SE will share dimensions with the iPhone 14, even mimicking the distinctive pill-shaped notch at the top. However, one notable alteration might be the camera setup on the back, which is expected to have just a single lens.

The most surprising detail from the latest rumors, however, concerns the Plus model. According to sources from Alibaba, “The iPhone SE 4 was initially developed in the same 6.7-inch size as the iPhone 14 Plus, with plans for a 6.1-inch model, similar to the iPhone 14, being added later.”

While this information should be approached with a fair amount of skepticism, introducing a larger 6.7-inch option alongside the 6.1-inch iPhone SE variant seems plausible.

Recent reports indicate that 2025 may mark the end of the Plus variant in the standard iPhone lineup, with Apple potentially replacing it with an iPhone 17 Slim or Air model.

A larger Plus option would attract users looking for a phone with a bigger display and battery than the standard 6.1-inch model offers. This approach could effectively fill the gap left by the Plus models in the primary iPhone lineup, all while maintaining a more affordable price point.

It remains unclear whether the 2025 iPhone will finally introduce MagSafe capabilities, but it would be a welcome upgrade. One thing is likely: the forthcoming iPhone SE will be designed to utilize Apple’s Intelligence features.

If the latest iPad Mini is any indication, the new iPhone SE could come equipped with 8GB of RAM, meeting the minimum requirements for Apple Intelligence. However, the specifics regarding the processor are still uncertain.

It would seem logical for Apple to equip the iPhone SE refresh with the A18 chip, similar to the entry-level iPhone 16 models. Yet, considering the company installed the older but still powerful A17 Pro in the iPad Mini, it’s possible that they may opt for a more dated chip this time around, tapping into existing inventory.
