After a long wait, Genshin Impact is set to arrive on Xbox, having previously been available on mobile, PC, and PlayStation 5 since its debut in 2021. The exciting announcement was made in August 2024, revealing that Xbox gamers can finally experience the title starting November 20, 2024, on Xbox Series X|S.
In a recent interview with Windows Central, HoYoVerse shared insights about their collaboration with Xbox. Notably, Genshin Impact will offer exclusive in-game bundles on launch day for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, with additional bundle options rolling out in future updates. It’s important to note that while the game will not be available on Xbox One, players will still have access via Xbox Cloud Gaming, provided they have an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
Interestingly, Genshin Impact doesn’t require the Xbox Game Pass Core for multiplayer participation since it operates as a free-to-play title. This was clarified by a HoYoVerse representative after some confusion arose from the Xbox website suggesting that Game Pass Core would be necessary for online play.
At this time, the specifics of the in-game bundles available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate remain under wraps. Players can anticipate rewards ranging from Banner Pulls to Primogems and various consumables, although details will need to be confirmed by HoYoVerse.
HoYoVerse has developed a variety of gacha games, but Genshin Impact remains their flagship title. Following the successful launch of Honkai: Star Rail last year, this year’s Zenless Zone Zero presented a distinct departure from both Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, despite some shared features.
Thanks to its enduring popularity, Genshin Impact is consistently updated with new content, including fresh areas to explore and additional storylines. The developers are also introducing new characters, prompting players to save up their Primogems to pull for their favorites during banner events.
It remains to be seen whether other games from HoYoVerse will follow Genshin Impact onto the Xbox Series X|S. The developers are likely to share their thoughts on potential future developments after reviewing the game’s performance on this new platform.
