Honor has rolled out several AI enhancements through a collaboration with Google Cloud. Key features announced include AI Outpainting, an AI eraser, and a sneak peek at their upcoming product lineup scheduled for launch next month.
Among these features, AI Outpainting stands out as a significant advancement. This tool resembles Photoshop’s Generative Expand, designed to simplify the process of framing photos correctly by allowing AI to seamlessly complete any gaps that may arise.
While details about Outpainting and its functions remain limited, we understand it is part of Honor’s AiMAGE suite and relies on Google’s Imagen model. This feature lets users zoom out and enlarge their images up to twice their original size. Additionally, you can reframe and rotate your photos without risking loss, as AI will automatically fill in any gaps that result from these adjustments.
Eric Fang from Honor remarked on AI Outpainting, saying, “It’s a game-changer. It allows users to concentrate on capturing the perfect moment without the stress of achieving flawless framing. The optimized generative fill guarantees that extended images blend seamlessly, even in intricate scenarios like buildings and landscapes.”

The AI Eraser marks another addition to Honor’s suite of AI tools. Common in many flagship smartphones, this feature allows users to remove unwanted items by either circling or tapping them, with Honor’s AI intelligently filling in the resulting gaps.
Looking ahead, Honor has hinted that its forthcoming products will further emphasize AI capabilities, thanks to their partnership with Google Cloud. Slated for release in May 2025, this new range will utilize Google Veo, a video generation tool. While specifics remain unclear, Honor assures that the technology will interpret user commands and create videos that align with their creative visions.
