Half-Life 3 stands proudly among the most anticipated video games in history, largely because it has never actually seen the light of day. Passionate supporters of the series have spent years dissecting every piece of information following Half-Life 2, yet Valve has remained tight-lipped about any future developments. Recently, the original voice actor for G-Man took to X—his first post since the launch of Half-Life: Alyx—teasing an “unexpected surprise” slated for 2025.
To make things even more intriguing, he delivered this message through a video in which he embodied the G-Man character. His communication stated, “Another year already. It’s great to connect with so many of you. May the next quarter-century bring as many unexpected delights as the first of the millennium. But then again, time is as fluid as music. See you in the new year!”
The post was tagged with just four hashtags: #Valve, #Halflife, #Gman, and #2025.

The post quickly gained traction, with over 8,100 shares and nearly 28,000 likes at the time of writing. Fans flooded the comments with excitement, shouting, “It’s happening!” However, it’s important to temper expectations, as many previous rumors of a Half-Life 3 release turned out to be false alarms. Yet, this time, there seems to be a bit more substance to the speculation.
Shapiro is not known for being active on social media, making this character-embodied video either a clever tease or a genuine indication that something could be on the horizon. Additionally, voice actress Natasha Chandel alluded to her involvement in a project possibly called Project White Sands about six months ago, which remains unannounced by Valve. White Sands is notable for being a park and missile range in New Mexico, not far from the original Half-Life setting.
Geoff Keighley previously documented his findings in a digital narrative titled Half-Life: Alyx — Final Hours, which revealed that several projects were shelved, including an internal one referred to as Half-Life 3, as highlighted by IGN.
As 2028 approaches—marking the 30th anniversary of the original Half-Life—there’s speculation that Valve may unveil a new project this year, aiming for a release that coincides with the celebration. Many fans, however, are hoping for a more imminent launch, especially considering that recent mods have significantly boosted the player count for the original game.
