In a recent announcement, Google introduced Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) for developers and Advanced subscribers, designed to address more intricate challenges. This innovative model prioritizes thoughtful processing before generating responses.
According to Google, Gemini 2.5 Pro is available now through Google AI Studio, its developer platform, and for Advanced subscribers, with Vertex AI support expected soon. Google claims that this model outshines its competitors, having achieved an impressive 18.8% on the LMArena leaderboard, outpacing other AI systems like ChatGPT and Deepseek.
“Gemini 2.5 Pro showcases cutting-edge performance across various benchmarks that demand advanced reasoning capabilities. It outperforms without relying on costlier techniques like majority voting, leading in math and science assessments, such as GPQA and AIME 2025. Furthermore, it achieved a leading 18.8% score on Humanity’s Last Exam, a dataset curated by numerous experts to evaluate human knowledge and reasoning limits.”
Subscribers currently utilizing Gemini Advanced can access Gemini 2.5 Pro at no additional charge, with upcoming pricing details for higher usage tiers anticipated in the near future. This updated model offers a one-million context window, with plans for a two-million context window soon. It also boasts the capability to solve challenges posed by various formats, including audio, text, images, entire code bases, and video.
Since launching a “thinking” iteration of their AI model in December, Google has continued to enhance its offerings. Recently, Gemini became available on Google Maps, allowing users to interact with the application through conversation. Additionally, Gemini is set to replace Google Assistant in the next few months.
