Singapore is becoming the center of Hamburg in Southeast Asia. A few months after Shake Shack arrived at futuristic Jewel Changi, another American Hamburg Federation was coming to the island nation.

The five-handed men are famous for their handmade, custom-made burgers that contain fresh, high-quality ingredients such as peanut oil and fresh ground beef, and will open a second store in Hong Kong from October to December.

The restaurant was opened in 1986 by the Murrell family in Arlington, Virginia. Soon after, Five Guys was known for its choice to add customizable toppings to fresh burgers.

The franchise began in 2003 and until today the company was owned and led by Murrells.

It currently has more than 1,600 restaurants in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, with the largest number of restaurants in the US and UK. According to Five Guys, there are another 1,500 units in development around the world.

Bringing five people to Singapore is the Zouk Group, whose name is synonymous with nightlife in Southeast Asia.

Starting with the humility of Virginia, Five Guys founded Janie and Jerry Murrell. Jerry and his sons, Jim, Matt, Chad and Ben are the original “five guys.” Many years later, Murrells had his fifth son, Tyler. Today, all five sons make up the current “five guys” from the family business.

Singaporeans, you are very lucky.
