Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the first teaser for Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film, One Battle After Another.
In this short clip, we see Leonardo DiCaprio enjoying a quiet moment in a field, only for his peace to be shattered by gunfire. As the chaos unfolds, DiCaprio’s character is seen reaching for a firearm before the footage comes to an abrupt end.
A complete trailer is set to drop next week.
Details regarding the plot and characters are still largely undisclosed. However, it’s believed that the film draws inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, which delves into the tensions between the liberated spirits of the 1960s and the War on Drugs era of the 1980s.
Alongside DiCaprio, One Battle After Another features a talented cast that includes Regina Hall, Sean Penn, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, Alana Haim, Shayna McHayle, Chase Infiniti, and Benicio del Toro.
Anderson, who writes and directs this film, returns to Warner Bros. for the first time since 2014’s Inherent Vice. The film is rumored to have a production budget of $140 million, marking Anderson’s highest budget for any of his projects.
This marks the first time DiCaprio and Anderson have collaborated. It also serves as DiCaprio’s fifth major film since 2015, following his recent role in 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon.
One Battle After Another will be Anderson’s tenth feature film. His previous release, 2021’s Licorice Pizza, received three Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
Initially slated for release on August 8, 2025, the film’s launch has been postponed to September 26, 2025. This shift in schedule could allow One Battle After Another to debut at one of the renowned fall film festivals, such as Telluride, Venice, or Toronto.
