The first teaser for How to Train Your Dragon has been unveiled, offering a glimpse at Hiccup and Toothless in a live-action adaptation of DreamWorks’ beloved 2010 animated film.

However, he chooses a different path when he forms a friendship with a Night Fury dragon he names Toothless. Together, they must confront a looming threat, and their unique bond could be the key to uniting their two worlds.

Gerard Butler returns to voice Chief Stoick the Vast, a role he played in the animated series. The live-action cast also features Nico Parker as Astrid and Nick Frost as Gobber, with Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur rounding out the impressive lineup.

How To Train Your Dragon | Official Teaser Trailer

This adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon is being brought to life by Dean DeBlois, who directed all three films in the animated trilogy. Producing the film are Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, and the story is based on the acclaimed book series by Cressida Cowell.

The original 2010 animated film How to Train Your Dragon was both a critical and commercial success, raking in $494 million globally and receiving two Academy Award nominations. This success led to two sequels: the follow-up in 2014, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and the final chapter in 2019, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Beyond the films, the franchise has expanded to include three television series, numerous video games, various short films, and theme park attractions.

How to Train Your Dragon is scheduled to hit theaters on June 13, 2025.
