Nuio, a fresh contender in the peripherals arena, has unveiled its inaugural product designed to blend comfort, flexibility, and personalization. Created by former Apple employee Tom Wilson alongside his brother Greg Wilson, the Nuio Flow is an ergonomic keyboard engineered to encourage optimal wrist alignment, making it a perfect choice for professionals, gamers, and anyone engaged in extended typing sessions.

Upon first inspection, the Nuio Flow exudes a design reminiscent of Apple’s signature aesthetics, positioning itself as one of the premium keyboards on the market. Its minimalist look caters to users who frequently experience fatigue or discomfort during lengthy typing periods.

By dividing the keyboard into two separate halves, users have the freedom to align each section with their body’s natural posture, which may help alleviate strain on the wrists, arms, and shoulders. This adjustable configuration facilitates a more comfortable typing experience, especially beneficial for individuals coping with repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) or carpal tunnel syndrome.

What distinguishes the Nuio Flow is its innovative magnetic peripheral system. Users can easily attach or detach various components, such as a trackpad, adjustable stands, and wrist pads, according to their preferences. This magnet-based system simplifies the process of reconfiguring the keyboard setup on the go, appealing to those who frequently shift between tasks like gaming, programming, or office work, where different layouts can enhance efficiency.

This keyboard incorporates custom rubber dome switches and unique backlit concave keycaps, delivering a tactile experience similar to that of a laptop keyboard. With white backlighting, the built-in battery can last up to 28 days; however, if the keyboard is used with the backlight on for four hours a day, battery life drops to around 10 days.

A provided split USB-C cable enables simultaneous charging of both halves, while Bluetooth connectivity allows for wireless pairing with up to three devices, including PC, Mac, or other mobile gadgets.

Despite its innovative design, the Nuio Flow comes with a steep price tag of $399, placing it at the higher end of the ergonomic keyboard market.

The keyboard can currently be preordered on the official Nuio website and is available in space gray with macOS legends, set to ship in December. Customers interested in Windows or dual OS legends, along with various color options (including silver, gold, rose gold, blue, green, and brown), must wait until January.

As for additional accessories, the Flow Trackpad is priced at $249, a compact desk pad retails for $129, and both stands and wristpads are available for $99 each.
