The iPad Pro 2024 has suffered a surprising camera downgrade.
Much has already been reported about how Apple’s new iPad Pro 2024 has improved. We’re here to tell you about one very obvious manner in which it’s become worse.
Apple’s flashy, pricey new tablet no longer includes an ultra-wide camera.
The previous version of the iPad Pro, known as the iPad Pro 2022 or iPad Pro M2, has a 10MP ultra-wide camera in addition to its primary 12MP sensor. However, the recently unveiled iPad Pro M4 only includes the aforementioned 12MP camera.
iPad Pro Camera (2022 vs. 2024)
Feature | iPad Pro 2022 | iPad Pro 2024 |
---|---|---|
Rear Camera | 12MP Wide | 12MP Wide |
Front Camera | 12MP Ultra Wide | 12MP Wide |
Additional Features | True Tone flash | Adaptive True Tone flash |
Missing in 2024 | 10MP Ultrawide rear camera | |
Front Camera Position | Portrait mode | Landscape mode |
Apple says that the camera system on the iPad Pro 2024 has been overhauled with “even more versatility,” including four microphones for better films and the ability to record “even better color, improved textures, and detail in low light.” However, it has lost the capacity to shoot ultra-wide landscape images.
The point is that the iPad Pro 2024 starts at £999 / $999, which is a substantial increase above its predecessor’s starting price of £899 / $799.
In the present economic situation, we’re not surprised to see £100 / $200 price increases for smartphones and tablets. However, you would expect everything to be at least as nice, if not better, for the additional cost.
Despite this glaring absence, Apple’s new tablet packs a lot of punch, including a brand new OLED display (two of them), a substantially smaller design, and the company’s brand new AI-powered M4 processor.
