According to David Harbour, viewers might want to have some tissues handy for the finale of Stranger Things season 5.
On Thursday, Harbour attended the 10th anniversary celebration of the Happy Sad Confused podcast at New York Comic Con. He gave the audience a glimpse of what’s to come in Stranger Things season 5. The actor and his fellow cast members have read through the series finale, which Harbour described as “the best episode they’ve ever created.” He emphasized that the finale is so impactful that it brought many to tears.
“During our reading of the [final] episode, we noticed people began crying about halfway through,” Harbour shared. “By the last 20 minutes, it was an emotional flood, with waves of different reactions. Noah Schnapp was particularly memorable.”
Harbour believes that the creators of Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, have successfully wrapped up the series in a fulfilling way. As Jim Hopper, he has worked alongside this young cast for almost a decade, witnessing their transformation from children into young adults. This theme of maturation plays a significant role this season, a factor that Harbour thinks will resonate well with audiences.
“These kids started the show at ages 11 and 12, and now, a decade later as we read the finale, we explore that journey,” Harbour noted. “It’s beautifully crafted and meaningful … It’s such an incredible episode and an outstanding season. Fans are going to love it.”
In July, Netflix shared a teaser for Stranger Things season 5 to mark the midpoint of filming. Alongside Harbour, the season’s cast includes Winona Ryder as Joyce, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, Noah Schnapp as Will, Natalia Dyer as Nancy, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan, Joe Keery as Steve, and Maya Hawke as Robin.
Fans can expect Stranger Things season 5 to hit Netflix in 2025.
