The film Twisters serves as a standalone sequel to the original 1996 classic, Twister, and features a dynamic cast including Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos. The story follows Kate (Edgar-Jones), who, after a devastating encounter with a tornado, decides to leave storm chasing behind. She takes a job in New York City studying weather patterns. However, her friend Javi (Ramos) persuades her to join him for a week of storm chasing in Tornado Alley, where they aim to utilize new technology to improve warning systems.
Initially hesitant, Kate ultimately decides to travel to Oklahoma and join Javi’s team. While hunting storms, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), a social media influencer who has dubbed himself the “tornado wrangler.” When an unprecedented surge of storms sweeps through the region, Kate must team up with Tyler to survive the violent tornadoes and assist local residents in their time of need.
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, Twisters features a script by Mark L. Smith and is based on a story by Joseph Kosinski. In addition to the main cast, the film includes performances from Brandon Perea, future Superman David Corenswet, Maura Tierney, and Sasha Lane.
