Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 will be released in 2025

Beats has announced that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will be released in 2025.
Although Apple is known for keeping details about its upcoming products tightly under wraps until official announcements, its subsidiary, Beats by Dre, has surprised the tech world with an undeniably bold teaser on social media.
This morning, the brand prominently featured an unreleased earbud on Instagram, accompanied by a promotional video that unmistakably reveals its name: the Powerbeats Pro 2. Set to launch in 2025, it’s clear this release is still a ways off.
It’s worth noting that the original Powerbeats Pro are nearly five and a half years old, so it’s understandable if you had begun to lose hope for a sequel before this unexpected sneak peek. On a different note, Beats made a surprising return to the Pill speaker earlier this year after nearly a decade of silence, along with the launch of the Solo 4 headphones, which arrived almost eight years after the Solo 3.

Currently, we lack specifics about the features and functionalities of the forthcoming Powerbeats Pro 2. However, based on the first generation’s reputation, we can anticipate impressive battery performance, reliable connectivity, decent sound quality, and a design tailored for gym-goers that prioritizes durability and comfort over style.

On initial inspection, these new earbuds—designed for professional baseball player Shohei Ohtani and other athletes—appear to be thinner, more streamlined, and arguably lighter than their predecessors while preserving the classic look and signature ear hooks of the original Powerbeats Pro.

Are we betting these earbuds will make it into our top picks for the best wireless earbuds next year? Definitely. Will they compete directly with the upcoming AirPods Pro 3 in terms of design? Probably not, and likely not in audio quality either. However, they might closely match in retail pricing.
