Apple is commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch by designating April 24 as Global Close Your Rings Day. On this special occasion, Apple Watch owners will have the opportunity to earn an exclusive reward for completing all their Activity rings.
In a press release issued on Monday, the company outlined its plans for the Apple Watch’s milestone celebration, encouraging users to stay active and achieve their move, stand, and exercise goals. Those who successfully close all their rings will receive a distinctive badge adorned with gold borders, along with a collection of 10 vibrant animated stickers for the Messages app. This initiative is particularly significant as it highlights the original Activity rings that were part of the first Apple Watch models, as well as the Activity app on the iPhone.
Apple’s motivation behind this event goes beyond just rewards; the company has shared insights derived from its Heart and Movement Study, which included data from 140,000 participants. The findings revealed that individuals who regularly complete all their activity rings are 48% less likely to experience poor sleep quality, 73% less likely to have elevated resting heart rates, and 57% less likely to report high stress levels.
Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, remarked, “Apple Watch has transformed the way people approach, monitor, and engage with their fitness and health. A decade ago, we launched Activity rings, and since then, Apple Watch has expanded to provide a wide range of features aimed at empowering each user. We hear from individuals almost daily about how Apple Watch has positively impacted their lives—whether by motivating them to stay active or changing their overall health trajectory.”
Apple Watch users can begin collecting their exclusive reward on April 24. Additionally, special pins will be available at Apple Store locations worldwide while supplies last.
