After Ammirati’s bulge brushed against the crossbar during his heat on August 3, the incident quickly went viral on social media, with many discussing the visual impact of his misfortune.
This surprising attention has led to an intriguing offer from adult entertainment company CamSoda. They’ve proposed $250,000 for Ammirati to participate in a 60-minute cam show.
In a letter obtained by Us Weekly, CamSoda Vice President Daryn Parker extended the offer, suggesting that Ammirati could still make a significant return despite missing out on Olympic gold. “Although you didn’t bring home the gold medal, you can still capture the gold from your fans via CamSoda – that has to count for something, right?” the letter reads. “Plus, you won’t have those restrictive compression shorts holding you back, so feel free to let it all out and show the world why you should have your own Olympic competition next time around.”
Following the event, Ammirati expressed his disappointment, calling the situation “a big disappointment.” He mentioned, “The conditions were good,” and described this competition as the first where he felt stress-free. He admitted that he missed some training time leading up to the event, which might have affected his performance.
Ammirati’s third attempt at clearing the 5.70m bar was disqualified after his legs hit the bar first, not his bulge. Ultimately, he finished 12th in his heat with a score of 5.60m, falling short of advancing to the next round.
Despite his performance, Ammirati’s Olympic moment will be remembered for its unique flair. Reactions on social media reflected this, with comments like, “Not the worst thing in the World losing a Gold Medal in the #Olympics because you’re packing a French Baguette,” and, “Lost the pole vault, won the Schlong Jump.”
