WhatsApp is introducing an update for its Android users through the Google Play Beta Program, featuring an enhanced privacy option for chats aimed at limiting message sharing.
This new feature will enable users to prevent media files—like photos, videos, and voice notes—from being saved automatically on their devices. If a user receives media from a chat where this option is activated, those files will not appear in their device’s gallery.
Much like the existing disappearing messages feature, this addition demonstrates WhatsApp’s commitment to improving user privacy. Similar to disappearing messages, it is optional, allowing users to activate it in particular chats according to their preferences in the app settings.
Activating this feature will give users more control over their shared conversations, reducing the likelihood of unauthorized exports of chat data and enhancing security, especially for discussions that contain sensitive or personal information.
