WhatsApp is developing an exciting new feature that will enable users to share their favorite Spotify tracks as status updates. This feature will be included in an upcoming update.
According to WABetaInfo, in the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android (2.25.8.3), users will have an option to share music from Spotify directly as a status update, in addition to the usual messaging options for sending to contacts or groups.
If users choose this option, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, will process the selected track and create a preview that will be displayed in the status update.
The preview will showcase important information like the song title, artist name, and album art, making the shared music visually appealing and engaging.

This feature is reminiscent of how music sharing works on Instagram Stories when users post a Spotify song.
The upcoming update enhances the interaction around music sharing, allowing viewers quick access to the track without the need to search for it themselves.
Similar to Instagram, WhatsApp will feature a “Play on Spotify” button within the status update, which directs viewers to listen to the track in the Spotify app with just a tap.
It’s worth noting that WhatsApp will not have access to the specific songs that users share from Spotify. Thanks to WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, only the intended recipients will see the shared content.
This feature is still in development and will be available in a future update.
