2024 Inclusion Conference Kicks Off in Shanghai with Insights from Kevin Kelly

Shanghai, September 5, 2023 – The 2024 Inclusion Conference officially opened this morning in Shanghai, featuring a keynote address by Kevin Kelly, founder and editor-in-chief of Wired Magazine and author of The Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces That Will Shape Our Future.

During his speech, Kelly outlined three major trends he believes will emerge as artificial intelligence (AI) continues to influence both the economy and culture: globalism, accelerated innovation, and AI-driven generation.

As a renowned internet futurist and digital culture visionary often referred to as the “father of Silicon Valley spirit,” Kelly shared his insights on the rapid advancement of globalism. “We are collectively building a technology-based ‘super-organism’,” he stated, emphasizing that while individuals may have different preferences for devices and content, these variations are merely differences in interaction. Fundamentally, he believes they all belong to the same platform.

Kelly then shifted his focus to the second trend: the acceleration of innovation. He pointed out that AI technology has quickened the pace of new inventions and the dissemination of ideas, facilitating enhanced learning experiences through augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), and allowing AI to perceive the world via machines and sensors.

He explained that in an age where answers are easily accessible, the true value lies in the ability to ask the right questions and cultivate an effective mindset. “After graduation, you will likely find yourself in jobs that didn’t exist while you were in school. Learning how to learn will become a core competency for future graduates,” Kelly asserted.

Finally, Kelly addressed the trend of AI-driven generation. He noted that artificial intelligence will not only help eliminate monotonous tasks but also enable the completion of complex assignments that humans cannot accomplish alone. He stated, “This is the real revolution brought about by AI; these systems are generating new creations that are not yet perfect, but they are improving rapidly.”

As the conference unfolds, Kelly’s predictions are expected to spark discussions on the implications of AI technology in various sectors and its potential in shaping the future of work and culture.
