The OneXPlayer X1 Pro has made its reappearance on the market, sporting a new anime-themed design, enhanced specifications, and a staggering price tag. For those unfamiliar with this handheld device, imagine if the Microsoft Surface and Nintendo Switch had a child — and this iteration looks as if it was born at an anime convention centered around Evangelion.
Beyond being a handheld gaming device, it doubles as a 2-in-1 PC. A kickstand on the back allows you to angle the screen conveniently, and it features a detachable keyboard — also inspired by Evangelion — that you can easily remove. The game controllers on either side of the display give it an unusual appearance reminiscent of an insect with disproportionate wings, but they can also be detached to function as standalone gamepads.
That unique design might be necessary given that the device boasts a sizable 10.95-inch display. Although OneXPlayer hasn’t disclosed its exact weight, it’s hard to envision comfortable gameplay sessions with a handheld of that magnitude. The device is outfitted with a staggering 64GB of RAM and 2TB of internal storage, providing ample space for all your favorite games along with every season and spin-off of Evangelion you could desire.

This handheld is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, marking an upgrade from the original model’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Its display can reach up to 120Hz, offers a maximum brightness of 540 nits, and features a 2.5K HD resolution. Additionally, it comes equipped with a 65wH battery and fast-charging capabilities at 100W to keep you gaming longer.
Keep in mind that this latest version is a limited edition, which means it won’t be available for long. While the specs may impress, it’s difficult to justify the $1,650 price tag. That amount could buy you a decent gaming PC or roughly 3.5 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. The only distinguishing feature compared to the base model is its homage to a specific anime character.
Admittedly, even the original OneXPlayer X1 Pro is not exactly budget-friendly, with a starting price of $1,500 (or $1,360 during a current sale). This handheld is certainly more of a niche product, but it remains a captivating piece of technology regardless.
