It’s been a week since the launch of the iPhone 16 Pro, and I made the leap from my iPhone 15 Pro to this new model. After a week of hands-on experience, here are four reasons that solidify my decision to upgrade this year.
Enhanced Thermals and Battery Life on the 16 Pro

This past week, I’ve yet to encounter any overheating with my new 16 Pro. Thanks to the internal modifications, it remains cool and maintains optimal performance across various conditions.
Minimum Brightness of 1 Nit
The Super Retina XDR display of the iPhone 16 Pro brings several upgrades over its predecessor. In addition to a larger size and improved Ceramic Shield, the most surprising enhancement has been its ability to dim to as low as 1 nit brightness.
While the minimum brightness of the iPhone 15 Pro isn’t officially listed, it’s quite clear that the 16 Pro offers a substantial improvement when viewed side by side.
This feature is particularly useful when you’re trying to use your phone in low-light settings, such as in bed next to someone who’s sleeping, making the 1 nit brightness a thoughtful upgrade.
5x Telephoto Lens
While I primarily take photos with the main camera, the telephoto lens is one I frequently use. Many users of last year’s Pro Max have noted that the shift from a 3x to a 5x zoom is quite significant.
Though adjusting to this new zoom level takes some time, I’ve already found myself impressed by the stunning shots I’m able to capture.
Desert Titanium Aesthetic
Choosing the desert titanium finish was a consideration for me after seeing Apple’s promotional content and reviews. Luckily, I absolutely love the color. Depending on the lighting, it can often appear gold—my initial preference. Even when it takes on a subtler hue, the titanium accents give it a sophisticated sheen that is hard to miss. It presents a classy, champagne-like vibe rather than being overly flashy, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the desert titanium look.

Although yearly iPhone upgrades are often deemed unnecessary for the average user, the improvements can be appealing for enthusiasts.
