Dragon Age: The Veilguard features a multitude of quests and activities that can easily lead you away from the main storyline. Each side quest offers its own unique rewards—be it narrative depth, valuable equipment, or achievements—but not every task contributes to unlocking the game’s ultimate conclusion. To ensure you experience the full story arc, you’ll need a clear understanding of what actions to take and when. We’ll guide you on securing the true ending without giving away any spoilers.
How to Achieve the True Ending in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
To attain the true ending, there are two key criteria that must be fulfilled before you reach the irreversible point in the narrative, which is the story mission titled When Plans Align.
Step 1: Start by completing the side quest known as Regrets of the Dread Wolf. This task requires you to gather six memories of Solas from his time during the rebellion. You’ll acquire two of these through the main storyline, but keep in mind that the other four can be easily missed.
Step 2: All four elusive memories are situated in the Crossroads region and will be marked on your map as long as you have the quest active. Be aware that some memories are locked until you progress further in the main quest, meaning you won’t be able to collect them as soon as you arrive in the area.
Three memories are behind gates that only unlock after defeating specific Champions located in various regions. These Champions are connected to the following tasks: Gate of Lost Ages, Gate of Faded Flories, and Gate of Deep Sorrows.
Step 3: After collecting and viewing all of Solas’s memories, your next step is to converse with a fragment of Mythal in the Crossroads. Be sure to select these dialogue options:
- I want your help
- We must stop the blight
- You stood against it
- We must stop the gods
- They wronged you
- We are worthy
- Building a safe place
This approach will earn you Mythal’s Light without the need to confront her in battle.
Step 4: Next, search for three Mysterious Circles scattered across Thedas.
The first one is located in the Arlathan Forest at the Waterfront Glades. Here, you need to solve a puzzle by directing all beams towards a crystal on an island to create a bridge. Below is the island’s location:
Step 5: You’ll face a miniboss at this location, so ensure you’re fully prepared. Once defeated, interact with the Mysterious Circle located by the pillar for additional dialogue.
Step 6: The second Circle can be found in the Necropolis Halls but is only accessible after completing Emmrich’s first companion quest, Restless Spirits, along with the side quest Pinnacle of Its Kind.
Step 7: Look for the Circle on the left side of the room where you battled the dragon known as The Formless One.
Step 8: The final Circle is back in the Crossroads and can be accessed at the end of the Heart of Corruption quest. Just follow the markers and defeat the bosses along the way.
Step 9: After completing this section, head back to the arena where you fought the Revenant Dragon. Take the left path to reach the last Circle.
Step 10: Once you’ve completed all these steps, simply finish the game or replay the conclusion for an additional secret scene after the credits roll.
