If you’re renewing your AWS Compute Savings Plan, you’ll be happy to know that you can change your commitment amount during the process. When you access the renewal feature in your AWS console, it gives you the flexibility to adjust your commitment based on how your usage has changed or to take advantage of current Savings Plan rates.
To renew, head over to the Billing and Cost Management section. Find the Savings Plans Inventory and select your active Savings Plan. Look for the “Renew Savings Plan” option and click on it. This will set up a new Savings Plan to start right after your current one expires — usually just one second later, so there’s no gap.
Even if you renew with the same settings, you’re not stuck with the original commitment amount. You can increase or decrease your hourly commitment to match your current needs better. This makes it easy to adapt as your infrastructure evolves.
You also have the option to change your payment plan when setting up the renewal. You can choose from All Upfront, Partial Upfront, or No Upfront payments. So if you initially selected No Upfront and now want to pay all at once, you can do that during the renewal process.
The best part is that this process is smooth and straightforward. Your new Savings Plan will activate immediately after the old one ends, ensuring continuous savings without any interruption. This way, you keep your discount intact while adjusting your plan to fit your needs.
