Daredevil: Born Again introduces a diverse cast of new characters, many of whom share ties to the previous Netflix series.
Among these newcomers is BB Urich (played by Genneya Walton), a young journalist who takes to the streets to get the opinions of everyday New Yorkers. This character was created specifically for Daredevil: Born Again, but she has a strong connection to a significant (and now deceased) figure from the original series.
If you’re curious about what happens, we’ve got some insights for you below—just a heads up: spoilers for episodes 1 and 2 of Daredevil: Born Again follow.

BB Urich is a dedicated young journalist who hosts an online program called the BB Report. In the series premiere, she interviews residents of New York City about their feelings on rising violence and the challenges of feeling safe, especially in the absence of Daredevil. Following Foggy’s death, Matt Murdock has stepped away from his superhero persona to pursue justice through his law practice. In the year since Daredevil disappeared, crime has escalated, which Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, uses as a foundation for his political campaign.
BB shows a keen interest in Kingpin, likely because he was responsible for the death of her uncle, Ben Urich, in the Netflix series. Additionally, BB has a connection with Daniel Blake, whom she describes as her “politically savvy friend.” This link is beneficial for her as Blake is involved in Fisk’s campaign, granting BB inside access.

Ben Urich was a seasoned investigative reporter who, alongside Karen Page, focused on uncovering the criminal underworld in Hell’s Kitchen. His work led to numerous arrests of key criminals, though it ultimately resulted in his demise. Ben collaborated with Karen to dismantle Kingpin’s empire and was on the verge of making the truth public. When his wife’s health deteriorated, he considered abandoning the investigation, but Karen urged him to persist. As they neared exposing Wilson Fisk, Kingpin made a fatal visit, strangling Ben to death in his own home.
It’s likely that BB intends to follow in her uncle’s footsteps and continue his mission to reveal Kingpin for the dangerous criminal he truly is, despite his attempts to present himself as a changed man. While Fisk may win the election, exposing his criminal history could uncover his true nature.
