Unlocking the Gloomy Cavern in Infinity Nikki
In the "Showdown! The Gloomy Cavern" quest, part of the Carnival of Fireworks main storyline in Infinity Nikki, your objective is to unlock a mysterious door that leads to an enigmatic cave on the northern side of Firework Isle. You will be guided there by Marques Jr. after you’ve obtained a peculiar sword from a stone. However, access to the cave is blocked until you locate three Launch Tubes.
These Launch Tubes are spread out across the island, similar to those that seal doors in the other caverns. While they may not be overtly hidden, their exact locations aren’t marked clearly on the map next to the door, so some exploration is necessary. Keep in mind that many Launch Tubes are located near groups of Esselings, so stay alert as you venture around. If you’re not in the mood for this treasure hunt, you can give the Whim Tangram puzzles at the New Bloom Festival a shot—these will test both your logic and your patience.
How to Access the Gloomy Cavern
Once you’ve entered the "Showdown! The Gloomy Cavern!" stage of the Carnival of Fireworks quest, your map will show a waypoint that directs you toward a Warp Spire located just outside the cavern. Although you’ll encounter a few Esselings nearby, they shouldn’t pose much of a challenge at this point in the game. As you near the cave, a tooltip will appear prompting you to check the stone map positioned at the entrance, which indicates where to find the three Launch Tubes necessary to unlock the cave door.
Launch Tube 1: Outside the Cavern
The first Launch Tube is easy to spot. It’s right in front of the cavern’s entrance near the Warp Spire, situated on a small stone platform. Light it using any Firework Ability Outfit, and it will launch a pink firework that trails toward the cavern entrance, illuminating one of the gems on the door. The remaining two Launch Tubes are a bit farther away but should still be fairly simple to locate.
Launch Tube 2: Crescent Moon Ruins
The second Launch Tube is a short distance away and is best accessed from the Crescent Shoal Warp Spire. Start at the Warp Spire and take the path up the hill to the west, leading you to the ruins. Here, the Launch Tube can be found nestled within a decaying structure, which you can light up after dealing with the nearby Esselings.
Tip: If you’re equipped with a Firework Ability Outfit, nearby Launch Tubes will glow green, making them easier to spot when you’re close by.
Launch Tube 3: Flaming Forest
To find the southernmost Launch Tube, you can head to either the Sizzle & Spark Center Warp Spire or the Songbreeze Island Foothills Warp Spire. Regardless of your choice, make your way to the southwestern corner of the island. Once you arrive, you’ll once again find the Launch Tube hidden within a dilapidated building surrounded by Esselings. After clearing out the Esselings, light the Launch Tube with your Firework Ability Outfit and watch the pink light trail back to the Gloomy Cavern.
With all three Launch Tubes activated, you will be able to enter the Gloomy Cavern. Step inside to gather treasures and delve deeper to uncover the secrets it holds. Follow Marques Jr. and discover the mysteries of the Carnival of Fireworks, as well as everything else the Firework Season has in store for you.
