In Elden Ring, the Rotbone Arrow is a craftable projectile that builds up rot effects on your foes. These arrows are extremely useful for players who focus on archery builds.
This guide will provide you with the steps to create Rotbone Arrows, as well as where to find the necessary items in Elden Ring.
Where to Find Rotbone Arrows
You can’t buy Rotbone Arrows from any in-game merchant; the only way to get them is through crafting.
To craft Rotbone Arrows, you’ll need to find the recipe locked in the Nomadic Warrior Cookbook 15. You can purchase this cookbook from the Nomadic Merchant situated in the southern area of Caelid.
To locate the merchant, head to the Southern Aeonia Swamp Bank, which is located south of the major Rot Lake in Caelid. From the Site of Grace, travel southwest until you spot a road leading to the merchant, who will be sitting by a fire.
You can buy the Nomadic Warrior Cookbook 15 from this merchant for 4000 runes, which will unlock the crafting recipe for Rotbone Arrows.
To create 10 Rotbone Arrows, you will need the following materials:
- 3 Thin Beast Bones
- 1 Aeonian Butterfly
While you can farm Thin Beast Bones tirelessly by hunting animals throughout the map, Aeonian Butterflies are more limited. You can find a total of 29 Aeonian Butterflies in Caelid, with 14 available in the Abandoned Cave.
You can also repeatedly collect Aeonian Butterflies from the lesser Kindred of Rot enemies found in the Lake of Rot area during the late game.
Rotbone Arrow Statistics
The Rotbone Arrow inflicts a rot build-up of 50 with each hit, allowing you to establish a scarlet rot status early on in the game with any regular bow. When compared to the Rotbone Arrow Fletched version, it has reduced accuracy and a shorter range, yet delivers the same damage output.
