The Magma Blade is a curved sword crafted from the molten rock of Mt. Gelmir. This fearsome weapon is favored by the man-serpent foes found throughout the world of Elden Ring. It boasts enhanced performance derived from both Dexterity and Faith but can only be acquired through a fortunate drop.
With an extremely low drop rate in Elden Ring, the Magma Blade is quite rare. However, this scarcity provides an opportunity to farm the weapon multiple times for those who wish to dual-wield. This guide will assist you in finding this striking curved sword and offer tips for successfully obtaining it.
Where to Find the Magma Blade
You can obtain the Magma Blade as a rare drop from man-serpent enemies located behind Volcano Manor. Specifically, you’ll find these foes in the Prison Town Church and along the routes leading to Rykard, the lord of blasphemy.
To access this area, complete Rya’s questline or get captured by an Abductor Virgin at the base of the Raya Lucaria Academy. Speak with Tanith to join Volcano Manor and receive the Drawing-Room Key.
Search for a wall adorned with a picture (located in the top-right corner) in front of which lies a corpse. Hitting this wall will reveal a concealed path leading into Volcano Manor and ultimately to the Prison Town Church.
Once inside, you’ll encounter numerous man-serpents wielding the Magma Blade—ideal for farming.
Magma Blade Drop Rate
The drop rate for the Magma Blade is a mere 1% (for every 100 discovery efforts), meaning you’ll need a bit of luck to snag it. To boost your chances, consider consuming a Silver Pickled Fowl Foot.
Alternatively, you can raise your Arcane level above 30 to significantly enhance your discovery rate.
Equipping the Silver Scarab Talisman is another strategy to improve your chances of discovering the blade.
Magma Blade Stats and Requirements
To wield the Magma Blade effectively, you’ll need 9 Strength, 15 Dexterity, and 16 Faith. The weapon has D scaling across all three stats.
This sword features a distinct skill known as Magma Shower, which allows users to unleash lava from the blade for 12 FP.
Once acquired, the Magma Blade cannot be infused with any Ashes of War or consumables, but it can be upgraded to +10 using Somber Smithing Stones.
This curved sword weighs only 4 and can be sold for 200 runes at any merchant in the game.
Optimal Build for the Magma Blade in Elden Ring
For the best results with the Magma Blade, consider using the following items and allocating your stats accordingly:
Dual-wield two Magma Blades (both upgraded to +10) and equip the complete Rakshasa Set.
For Talismans, opt for:
- Fire Scorpion Charm (boosts fire attack damage)
- Shard of Alexander (enhances skill attack power)
- Talisman of the Dread (increases magma potency)
- Ritual Sword Talisman (amplifies attack power at full health)
Incorporate these spells while wielding the Giant’s Seal:
Mix the following in the Flask of Wondrous Physick using Cracked Tears:
- Flame Shrouding Cracked Tear (temporarily heightens fire attack power)
- Oil-Soaked Tear (drenches nearby foes in oil)
For stat allocation, we suggest:
- Vigor: 50
- Strength: 55
- Faith: 57
- Mind: 35
- Endurance: 3
This build allows you to deal over 3000 damage with a well-executed combo. It’s particularly effective in fast-paced PvP scenarios, letting you maintain swift movement while overwhelming your opponents with bursts of lava.
