The Iron Greatsword is a heavy, formidable weapon in Elden Ring, favored by the Misbegotten warriors. With its thick blade, it delivers devastating blows to any foe caught in its path.
Securing the Iron Greatsword requires perseverance, as players must repeatedly confront some of the toughest enemies in the game. In this guide, we will outline the steps to obtain this legendary sword and share tips to enhance your chances of acquiring it.
Where to Farm the Iron Greatsword
The Iron Greatsword can only be looted from Red-maned Misbegotten warriors, which inhabit late-game zones.
There are only three known warriors that can drop this sword, and the drop rate is notoriously low at just 4% for every 100 Discovery, making it a highly sought-after weapon.
The first two Misbegotten warriors can be found along the Ashen Path leading to the Forbidden Lands. To access this location, begin at the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace and retrace your steps outside, where you previously battled the Erdtree Avatar.
Continue along the path until you reach a large door. Once you enter, take a left and ascend the ramp. Be prepared for a host of Demi-Human archers and axe-wielders in this area; it’s advisable to eliminate the smaller enemies before challenging the Misbegotten Warriors.
This farming spot can be tricky due to the abundance of enemies, plus you won’t be able to revisit it after burning the Erdtree.
The second farming location is situated north of the Haligtree Town Plaza Site of Grace within Miquella’s Haligtree. You can access this area by solving the Ordina Liturgical Town puzzle in the Consecrated Snowfield.
This spot is relatively safe. You can use Jar’s Cannon to attack the Misbegotten Warrior from a distance, and this location remains accessible for farming even after finishing the game, provided you haven’t started a New Game Plus (NG+).
