Hey there, citizens of Super Earth! We have an exciting new weapon to help spread freedom and democracy in Helldivers 2. Meet the CQC-5 Combat Hatchet—a cutting-edge, yet familiar tool designed to take down any obstacles you encounter on the battlefield.
The Combat Hatchet is straightforward but comes with a few things to keep in mind before you charge into combat. This guide will show you how to get this weapon, maximize its use, and share some helpful tips.
What Is the Combat Hatchet?
The CQC-5 Combat Hatchet is a one-handed melee weapon and marks the third melee weapon introduced in the game. It deals significant damage and can penetrate light armor.
Just like previous melee options, the Combat Hatchet takes the place of your secondary weapon. While this means you’ll have one less ranged option, it also has an important advantage: the Combat Hatchet has unlimited uses, with the only cost being your stamina.
How to Get the Combat Hatchet
To grab this weapon, simply enter the Acquisition Center menu while aboard your ship using the input key shown at the top of your screen. From there, go to the Superstore tab, and you should find the Combat Hatchet available for 200 Super Credits.
If the Combat Hatchet isn’t visible in the Superstore, you’ll have to wait for the next refresh, which appears above the item listings.
How to Use the Combat Hatchet
When you have the weapon ready, holding down the attack button will swing the hatchet in a quick motion, striking any enemy in its path. The Combat Hatchet works wonderfully against groups of lightly armored foes, allowing you to conserve ammo for your primary or support weapons.
Using a Stim will grant you unlimited stamina for a limited time, allowing you to swing the hatchet freely without worrying about running out of stamina.
The SH-20 Ballistic Shield Backpack
While the Combat Hatchet is great for taking down groups of enemies, sometimes the odds can be overwhelming. That’s where the Ballistic Shield Stratagem comes in handy, providing essential defense against attacks. Holding the aim button will deploy the Ballistic Shield, protecting you from incoming attacks.
When you unequip the Ballistic Shield, it will rest on your Helldiver’s back, offering protection from attacks from behind.
