You can acquire the Captain Armor Set through the quest titled “Threads of a Curse.” This set consists of three pieces of Captain Sech Zapor’s attire, which can be gathered during the game’s first act. By collecting all three components, you will unlock the ability known as Tyrant’s Charm, allowing you to charm enemies—a particularly useful skill as the game progresses.
The quest "Threads of a Curse" unfolds within or around Fort Joy, marking the beginning of your adventure in Divinity: Original Sin 2. There are several ways to encounter this mission, as the game supports various play styles, but this method is among the simplest to complete the quest.
To find the pieces of the Captain Armor set, you will need to visit three specific coordinates within the early game area. Start by looking for an Odd Skeletal Arm protruding from the sand at coordinates (X: 362, Y: 81). This arm will indicate a direction to follow as you hunt for the armor.
You can pull the arm from the ground; when dropped, it continues to point in the same direction, guiding your party toward a treasure chest.
As you proceed, you’ll eventually discover a chest encased in a purple dome at coordinates (X: 535, Y: 23). Be cautious, as the chest curses anyone who approaches it. You can dispel the curse by casting Bless. Interacting with the chest introduces you to Captain Sech Zapor, from whom you can initiate the "Threads of a Curse" quest. If you’ve previously completed the "Vault of Braccus Rex" quest, you can persuade Zapor using the Soul Jar you acquired in that mission.
Upon deciding whether to assist or confront Zapor, you will take your first steps toward locating the entire Captain Armor set. Each of the three pieces is located in different spots, typically revealed by Zapor or hidden in chests. Here’s where to find each piece:
